Vendors and bridal shows.

rhonda, on May 20, 2010 at 1:23 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

OK. Sitting here at work on my laptop. Emailing vendors I REALLY liked from a bridal show. Some I'm getting a 404 error, their voice mail doesn't work, their phone is disconnected, the web site freezes or worse "Under Construction." Wouldn't it make sense to verify all that info BEFORE setting up in a bridal show? Also why do brides have to have vendors verbally shout at us "Got a DJ/Photographer/Video/ florist..." You get the idea. OK venting again because I do not understand. First impressions mean a lot to us brides and this is not good.

Goodness.. every bridal show I've ever been to allowed you to come to their table, no one yelled out to me. and THEY contacted me. I never once called a vendor after a bridal show, I gave them my number or email and they got back to me. Sounds kinda weird..

Yikes... very sorry to hear you're having a hard time contacting your favs. Not sure if this helps.... your work laptop may be blocking some of those sites that you are trying to view. Most companies will do that on purpose. But if you haven't experienced this type of problem prior they could be doing updates to their website and it could throw an error or under construction code out to you. Good luck and Congratulations on your Wedding!

If I were a bride at a show (which I was in the past), I would actually be very turned off by vendors who call out to me. I want brides to come to my table because they think they might be interested in my services. I try to treat people like I want to be treated, and I don't want a pushy salesperson, so that's not how I would treat brides and grooms.

As for the other issues, your work computer could be blocking sites. But, that can't be the reason for phone troubles. I think we vendors would agree that first impressions are most important, and having a functional website and functional phone/voicemail are a key part of that.

I wish you luck with your planning and wedding.
