Veil Switch Out

Meghan, on April 26, 2019 at 3:51 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 8
Right now my plan for my hair is to have 2 braids going to the back, like this:

Veil Switch Out 1

The rest of the hair similar as well, though possibly a bit shorter.

My current plan is to wear a veil for the ceremony and pictures, and then switch out the veil for a floral hair comb or pins for the reception. Has anyone else done a switch like this? I'm a little worried about messing up my hair in the process, but would like something in the back to kind of hide where the braids will come together after my veil is off.

If anyone's done something similar I'd love to see photos and hear some tips for a smooth transition!

I think that's pretty common. Your hair stylist should be able to instruct you and/or whoever will assist you on how to best do it. You could also wear the pins or comb with your veil so the veil just needs to be removed.

I did something similar! I had a veil for the ceremony and a headband for the reception. Whoever is switching them out just needs to be very careful and go slow, so it doesn't pull your hair.

Yeah, definitely just ask your stylist to show your MOH or whomever how to best do that, and you'll be fine.

Could you do both? That's what I did. I wore a flower crown with a veil during the pictures and ceremony and then removed the veil after the ceremony and just had my flower crown.

I think most brides do something like this, anyway, but I definitely understand where you're coming from because short hair and braids are a tricky combo to keep looking neat, whereas it's much easier to keep a braided hairstyle put together with long hair. Your stylist should be able to help you, that is if you plan to have a stylist. Either way, someone should be able to help you have a seamless transition! And I think the pins or comb would distract from any imperfections, should there be any.

Definitely talk to your stylist. A lot of brides take their veil out for the reception so that shouldn't be an issue and I would think that would be the difficult part. Placing a hair comb is just a matter of getting it in place.

Thanks ladies! I'm planning on doing my own hair but I'm sure my mom, MOH, or one of my bridesmaids can help with the transition. FH might even be able to help, he likes playing around with my hair. 😆

My cousin wore a tiara that had little clips (looked like a necklace clasp) to attach the veil part, and then took the veil off for the reception. Maybe you can find a way to clip the veil to the flower comb and then just detach the veil from the comb instead of taking anything out of your hair and worrying about messing it up. Just depends how heavy/long your veil is.
