Unity Ceremony

Carly, on January 16, 2017 at 7:57 PM Posted in Planning 0 20

I'm debating about having a unity ceremony during my outdoor wedding ceremony. Any suggestions of what I can do? Is anyone doing anything unique or different?

FH and I are planting a tree - we're both foresters, and we're using a buckeye tree since we met at Ohio State and using soil from both our childhood homes.

Were probably going to do a sand unity ceremony. I wanted to do a glass unity ceremony but it was too expensive to get all of the necessary equipment.

We heard about the tasting of the four elements, so I think we might do that!

We're doing the love letter ceremony. We write letters to each other (right before the ceremony) and lock it in a box with wine and glasses and open years later. Our officiant will lock the box during our ceremony.

We're writing letters to each other before the ceremony, then putting them in a box with a bottle of wine to read on our first anniversary. I wanted to write our own vows, but FH knows me well enough to know I won't be able to get through it without crying my eyes out. So he suggested it and I loved it!

Handfasting! We are each picking 3 colors that represent us then braiding them and then coming the two combinations

I just looked up that tasting elements thing. I'm all for unique and different ideas but wow that seems like a whole lot of not fun. No thank you. I don't want to be tasting cayenne pepper and vinegar in the middle of my ceremony

We went for sand ceremony and included our kids. It was so nice. Yes it's done alot but the words with it were great. We were first then the kids then us again on top surrounding them in love and support etc

I'm incorporating part of a traditional Vietnamese wedding where FH and I pour tea for our parents and grandparents. This is supposed to show acceptance of our marriagr from the elders.

We are doing a lot of glass, but not through a website. I recommend Bulleye glass for the frits and then the couple goes to a glass blowing or fusing workshop on their anniversary and make an art object. It isn't as monumental as the Unity in Glass piece, but it also doesn't cost 400.00......

We are doing a lot of handfastings this year, still the Wine and Words (wine box) and different variations on sharing; chocolate, tequila, scotch and soda, black and tan, sushi.
