Ugh...8 days in...Need to Vent...

Darcie, on August 30, 2016 at 11:32 PM Posted in Married Life 0 16

...and DH has lost his wedding ring. We drive truck together. We figure he took it off to wash his hands when we stopped for fuel and lunch on Sunday and walked away forgetting it. We have contacted every stop we made and ripped the truck apart looking for it. Someone out there has a really nice new wedding band (((grrr))). He is absolutely devastated about it. I dunno. Do we replace it? I think maybe that I would only want him to wear it for special occasions if we did. He brought up the idea of a tattoo. I don't know how I feel about that. What do you think?

Maybe get him a silicone one for daily wear and a nice one for special occasions. That's what my BIL does since he works with his hands.

My FH talked about getting a tattoo one because he works outside and I know he would never wear it. I didn't have a problem with that. I do hear a lot of people talk about the silicone rings, I know I have no knowledge of them and will look into them and discuss it with him. So sorry he lost his ring this close to the wedding, good luck!

I am actually thinking of wearing my wedding ring as a necklace because I wear gloves at work.

ETA: hit submit too soon. Sorry he lost it!

Oh jeez! I'm so sorry to hear that. I know a lot of people who wear the silicone ones as well as a few people with a wood or antler ring which is also an inexpensive yet cool options. Maybe buy him a titanium one? Those are also not too expensive and nice! Tungsten is a great brand and reasonably priced. If he really wants the tattoo though and you're okay with that then I say go for it! Good luck!

@Nikki, I googled the QALO. Those are pretty neat!

I've said this before but I am strongly against the wedding ring tattoo. Why? Because as sweet as it seems, what happens if, god forbid, someone passes away? That ring tattoo can't be taken off, and part of the healing process/grieving process would be to remove the ring. I think a tattoo to commemorate your marriage is fine anywhere else, but a ring is a very emotionally heavy tattoo to get. That, and my old tattoo artist had one from his ex-wife. He said he refuses to do them now, lol.

Anyway, you can get killer rings off Amazon. If you're really that concerned, buy him 5 of the King Will tungsten rings from Amazon and he can wear those without worry. And of course, you might just find his ring. I've known many people who "lost" a ring or earring and found it later in the oddest place.

Amazon.com, my friend. FH's ring is $20 and looks expensive. ETA: I second what AMW said. FH has the King Will tungsten band. It really is nice And is very comfortable on his finger.

@AMW, thank you. That's exactly my hesitation with the tattoo ring. We are going to keep looking for it and will check out Amazon and silicone. Thanks ladies.

We bought FH a $9 ring off Amazon because he misplaces everything! He literally lost it the day after our wedding. I recommend getting something cheap as a replacement or the Qalo as many mentioned!

Thank you, ladies! We talked about my concerns with the tattoo and he agrees. I mean, of course we'll get matching tattoos somewhere, just not the finger! I think we'll replace the nice ring when we can afford it, and in the meantime, get him something that he'll wear for special occasions.

FH has a second ring that we bought on Amazon for $20 that he wears sometimes like if we're on vacation somewhere he wouldn't feel comfortable leaving the more $$ one in the room or if we're working out right after work and doesn't want the "real" one to get damaged and wouldn't want to just leave it in the car for over an hour either. It's really nice...the only difference is the color is a little darker since it's silver and his real band is white gold.

DH also has a King Will tungsten ring from Amazon - it was $20 and looks like ones the jewelry store wanted hundreds of dollars for.

We spent $300 on his tungsten carbide ring. What's the difference between that and the ones I'm seeing on Amazon for $20?
