Trash the dress photos

Chrissie, on July 16, 2018 at 7:55 PM Posted in Planning 0 10
Hey I was wondering if anyone has done or is planning to do trash the dress photos. We are having our wedding on a beach and I'd love to get photos in the water, but I'm not trying to be wet during reception. We are thinking we will have to do those photos the next day. Any ideas?

I kinda like this trend, but I dont plan on doing it as I have a shadow box planned for my dress. It's good for those that dont want to preserve their dresses. They tend to just sit around anyway! I would talk with your photographer and look up some fun reference photos online. I personally love the ones where the couple jumps off the pier or stand on rocks and let the waves crash on the backside of them.

We will be having the wedding on the beach of the gulf of Mexico so there won't be any peirs to jump off of unfortunately. But the rocks is something we may or may not be able to do. I have always wanted to trash the dress. I love country weddings and was wanting mine to be country or beach but fiance wanted beach lol but if I did a couple try wedding I was ready to get my dress muddy and have some fun. Lol

Hi Chrissie! Welcome to WeddingWire and congrats on your engagement! Smiley heart

I think doing these photos the next day might be your best bet! That way, you're not rushed and you won't be wet for the reception.

Unless you were open to 'trashing the dress' prior to the reception and afterwards, changing into a different dress, like a short/casual/dancing white dress? Just an option if you really want to do your "trash the dress" photos on the same day.

I love the idea of photos in the water! Definitely don't hesitate to come back and share BAM pictures with us Smiley heart

I’ve never heard of this! How cool! But I’d say after since I’m asumming hair/make up will be done and why take all that time to get made up just to get rid of it right after ceremony. Such a cool idea!!!

Thanks, and yeah I suppose it'll have to be done the day after the wedding. It will sick having to pay photographer for another session though but this is something that I really want t to do. Look on Pinterest, they have lots of trash the dress photos that look awesome.

I am doing a trash the dress photo shoot. We got married on 6/23 in the city we live in so we are planning to do that photo shoot here within the next few weeks. We are doing powdered paint. My photographer offered it in one of his packages so it wasn't a big deal to schedule it after the wedding. It sounds like you will need to schedule your shoot for the next day. I wouldn't want to be wet during the reception or like a PP said have another dress you can change into for reception if you choose to trash the dress on the same day. That will be so fun though and I hope you come back to post a BAM!

Could you do it the day after? If you could afford the photographer? Or at the end of the night? Then your dress would still be nice for the reception.

I thought about doing it at the end d of the night but we don't like the idea of getting in the ocean at night and plus the pictures would all be at night and I kind of like the ones with daylight in them. Not sure my fiance is thrilled with the idea of having to pay the photographer for another session for the next day but I think that's what we will end up doing.
