Top tier of cake

futuremrsrichardson, on March 1, 2018 at 7:47 PM Posted in Planning 0 35
Do any of you plan to keep your top tier of cake for your anniversary? The cake company I think I am going to go with does a free anniversary cake but my fiancé likes the thought of it being our wedding cake.

We’re getting the remake through our baker too. Seems like a hassle to keep it.

I know they say cake freezes well but I think I’d prefer the freshly made anniversary cake.

I think our plan is to eat it that night when we're drunk in our room after the wedding lol! I don't like the idea of saving it for a year. If not that night, definitely the next day.

Even if you wrap it up or anything of that such the cake will get frost bite lose its taste and be either dry or tough on the inside. that's what my baker said to me!

The idea of keeping cake in a freezer for a year is too much temptation. I would surely end up eating if beforehand.

Yeah, no saving cake! I plan to get fresh cake—that is something both of us see completely eye to eye on! lol!

Our baker gives us a free anniversary cake. She (and DH was very concerned about this so he did tons of reading on it so also everything he saw) said that in the very best case (perfectly wrapped, nothing happens to your freezer, etc.) it comes out okay. So we basically said nuts to that and decided on a free, fresh, and delicious cake on our anniversary.

We tried to keep ours but I couldn’t resist and ate it after a month and a half. Lol! I think it’s romantic.

Our nightmare DOC drunkenly threw away our entire wedding cake...so no Smiley cry

Our cake baker was kind enough to make us a "new" top that we froze.

Our baker is making it for us in a year. Cake really only lasts for up to 6 months in the freezer before it starts to compromise. So I’d rather have the fresh one Smiley smile
when i told my soon to be mil that she flipped... i just don’t see the point of eating old cake when you can have a fresh one made Smiley smile

We wanted the top tier to eat during the week after the wedding. So much better that way and you actually get to enjoy the cake because during the wedding you don't get much time to enjoy it.

This is why I am so so so so so adamant for hiring real professionals. My real DOC chose to book a vacation for my wedding so she hired a "replacement" who never worked as a DOC. He got drunk before the bar even opened. Throwing away our wedding cake was the least offensive thing he did though...
