    That's awesome.... have fun...

It's a his/hers wedding shower... Usually centered around a wine tasting, or cocktail party.. Things like the newlyweds game, movie trivia....

I wasn't sure either, there is another definition that comes up in the Urban Dictionary! I'm sure that isn't the one that you're having though! Smiley winking

Have fun! I had never heard of it either.

Just a random question...how did you have a party in the middle of the day on a Thursday? Did all your friends and family have to take off work?

Its summer time, everyones out of school, most of my friends and family work at night so it didnt matter. and if they really wanted to come then im sure some of them did take off work, but i dont care, to me it doesnt matter what day you do anything on, if your family and friends love you they will go no matter what, and they did. anyway it was fun, i had some friends i really wanted to be there that couldnt make it because they were on vacation but all in all it was awesome. as for the "definiton" of a jack and jill, it varies, like where i live its pretty much an engagement party, bride and groom make all the food and guests pay to get in to eat, play games, do raffles, etc..

wee are doing a ton of raffles and games, things like that. we arent having a shower or stag and arent registared anywhere so we figured this is the best bet.

I have never heard of a Jack and Jill party. Is this a regional thing? Where are you guys from? Do you still have a bridal shower or does the Jack and Jill party replace that? Or does it replace the engagement party?

The only reason we did it so far away is because we wanted it outside, most of our family has kids and theyre out of school and the place we had it at was super cheap because it was at a lake pavillion. it turned out pretty good, we made alot of money, which im happy about. i dont know if its a regional thing where we live, all i know is that most of our parents did one and our friends that got married did one. it doesnt really replace anything, you can have a million parties i guess if you really wanted to, and it is an engagement party, just a different name for one. im not having a bridal shower, just a crazy ass bachelorette party =]
