time between ceremony and reception?

My ceremony starts at 6:30, it is a full catholic mass + marriage and the baptism of our daughter, so I think it will probably take an hour? maybe longer? not sure... the reception venue is about 15-20 minutes drive, and they advised me to start at 8:30, I feel that's too late and people might get...

My ceremony starts at 6:30, it is a full catholic mass + marriage and the baptism of our daughter, so I think it will probably take an hour? maybe longer? not sure... the reception venue is about 15-20 minutes drive, and they advised me to start at 8:30, I feel that's too late and people might get there and have to wait outside for them to open. What do you all think, does that time seems ok or should I start the reception earlier? Thank you

    Depending on the time of year it might be tough on your wedding photographer if he isn't experienced in low light and artificial flash lighting. Make sure your not using a natural light only photographer cause photography will be difficult if in the late fall or winter months...
