Thoughts on a second dress for reception?

TripleM, on August 26, 2017 at 3:31 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 37

Alright, before I sound super greedy, let me just say, I paid $86 for my wedding dress. It is absolutely gorgeous, and I love it. The only thing is, it is floor length and fairly poofy. I am a dancer, and we are planning an uptempo, choreographed first dance, and I am concerned about having too much material underfoot for anything other than a slow song. Also, I broke and sprained my ankle a few months back. It's healing nicely, though slowly, and I want to be extra careful I don't re-injure myself on the happiest day of my life. I found a second dress that is $30, and it is shorter in the front and tapers down in the back. What do you ladies think about switching dresses? I don't want to look pretentious, I just want to be able to dance the night away carefree. Thoughts?

I would think because you got such a great deal on your first dress and the second one is a good price as well, go for it! And I think that second dress would also fit what I presume is the "dancing" costume, especially when I watch DWTS lol.

You're still under $200 total for two dresses, I say go for it! It's your day, nobody will care

If my wedding dress cost $86 and it wasn't suitable for dancing, I would 100% switch dresses for the reception!! I say go for it Smiley smile

I got a second dress for the reception! I'm wearing my mom's dress for the ceremony, but it's very heavy satin, so I will die if I try to dance in it. I got a short flow chiffon dress for the reception that I plan to change into.

I think that if the second dress is for dancing/comfort reasons, it doesn't come across as showy or pretentious. I do side eye when I see brides change from a poofy ballgown to say, an equally heavy/expensive mermaid gown.

Not pretentious at all! Go for it! I'm considering the same merely for dancing reasons!

The last wedding I went to the bride changed her dress for the reception. She couldn't dance in the first and got a good deal on the second. No one seemed to bat an eye. I doubt anyone would think twice about yours either. If it makes you feel more comfortable dancing it's definitely worth it.

Love the dresses. Do what you want. It is your day and if you're willing to spend the money, you can wear whatever you like.

I got 2 dresses because I got such a crazy good deal, paid less for both than I would have for one of them if I had paid full price!

That being said, even if you WEREN'T getting a crazy good deal, it's about what YOU want. If you want 10 dresses and can afford it, so be it Smiley smile

Heck yea, for that cost I would say go for it! If I got a deal like that I would get two dresses as well! I'm usually not fond of the whole dress changing thing but since your first dress was only $86, why not splurge on a dress that you can dance comfortably in!
