This sucked, but I think we figured out the Guestlist!

Brenda, on March 24, 2016 at 3:22 PM Posted in Planning 0 45

We talked a lot yesterday about the cuts we need to make for our guestlist. Once everything was figured out our guestlist was at 110, from 200. I'm calling that a success. Everyone else is on our backup list if we end up having more space in the end. Does anyone know when I should send out save the dates? Where can I get some for cheap?

You really shouldn't B-List your cuts.

Congrats on getting on your guest list done - that was the hardest part for us! I would stay away from a backup list. I've heard Vistaprint has affordable save the dates but not sure when to send them out, we're not doing STDs so I don't really know the etiquette that goes along with them.

You can get save the dates for cheap from vistaprint. I spent less than $20 on mine.

Your cuts should not be your backup list, because it's really rude and insulting to tell someone that they are good enough to come as long as the more important people aren't already filling their seats.

Vistaprint for cheap STDs (though a lot of people have STD regret later--if you send an STD you HAVE to invite them later on).

When should I be sending them out though? With the wedding in January I don't have a lot of time....eeeek!

A "backup" list is extremely rude and totally against etiquette. Get rid of it.

    Yesterday.

No, in all seriousness clam down relax. You have plenty of time. STD's in the next month or two and invites I'd say October because of the holiday season just before your wedding.

THat's awesome you were able to cut so many! We need to do that soon... eekk... And I've heard STDs are approximately 6- 8 months out. We are planning to send ours at the end of April- early May for a December wedding.

Don't do a back-up/B-list. As for the STD, send them soon! We sent magnet STDs from magnetstreet.com. Pretty much any place that sells wedding invites sells STDs.

You're not too late with the save the dates... I'd say June is the perfect time to send them.

Wow, let's control the rudeness a little please? I get it. Don't have a backup list. Check.

Thank you wine... (I can't spell!) For the helpful information.

You have time. STDs usually go out 6-8 months in advance (unless you're having a DW then I'd say maybe 8-10 months). Your invites can go out 6-8 weeks before. We got our STDs and invites from Vista Print for a great price (they have sales all the time too!).

STDs are usually about six months from the wedding, but I'd consider not sending them unless you're having a destination wedding. They lock you into a guest list pretty early. Given that you've cut your list so drastically, you might want to give yourself some time to really be sure before you start inviting people. STD = Invitation.

Also, have you talked to your parents about the guest list? I think you said they were contributing. Just a heads up, parents are known to throw a wrench into guest list plans by insisting on having certain guests. No idea if that's your situation or not, but just a heads up.

Edited after seeing your update re B list.

Hopefully we won't have any issues with parents, Puppybagel (love your name). Thanks for the warning though!

PPs are just trying to keep you from being rude to the people on your b-list. Glad to see that you're taking their advice!

Really? Mrs. Faith? Are you warning me that you can do worse? Just let it go and go on your merry way. I took your advice, however rudely it was given. At least Katie was nice enough to explain. Thank you Katie.

Marissa - your wedding is just a few weeks after mine and I already sent mine out. because you're on a holiday you might want to send them out early April, rather than late April. Especially if many guests are out of town or usually have NYE parties.

Brenda, honey. You're new here. I've seen things posted here on WW that were actually rude. My posts to you were not rude at all. Take everything said on here with a grain of salt and move on.
