Target Registry

Does anyone have opinions on Target registries? Some people here have loved it and some people have had horrible experiences. What's yours?

I just got one a few days ago. Went to the store. It was easy, but not fun. Target is huge and it took 2 hours. Still, got a few things we needed.

@Traci H A couple people have commented that they've had trouble with it showing when things are bought so they are getting multiple things and the scanners not working

    @MDEasternShoreBride Thanks!

Scanners worked fine for us and no one bothered us.

I loved our target registry. The only thing I did not like was that the website automatically added an option to buy a gift card, but I think a lot of retailers do that.

We had issues with our Target registry updating when people bought gifts. Someone would buy something and scan the registry properly when they did so and the item wouldn't show up as purchased. It actually happened with every item anyone purchased. I had to go through and delete the purchased items myself after my shower.

@Justine, I was just about to set up a registry at Amazon. I've heard such great things, what have your experienced that has made it so bad??

BTW, if the scanner is what you're worried about you don't need one. If you download the registry app you can scan and add things using your phone.

I have been really disappointed with our Target registry. We set it up before the bridal shower - only to find out that almost no one bought anything from it - because almost everything we had selected had only been out of stock or discontinued, which was greatly disappointing. Even when we would replace those items, the new items were soon discontinued or out of stock as well.

Based on my experience, we wouldn't recommend it.

I love target but didnt register there because I think their prices are high for the quality of some of their products. Also, I wanted nicer dishes to last and I didn't feel like target had those.

I've done a registry at Target twice, at two separate locations. Neither experience was bad. The nice thing about them is that both times they offered me a 15% off discount the week before the day of the event I registered for, so if I wanted to I could have ran out and bought those items for myself at a discount. I am fairly certain that they also offered free shipping for everyone ordering off of it online, but I could be remembering that wrong.

I think the only downside is that Target is still not in a lot of cities. So unless your guests are coming from a large city they may have to drive or order an item off it online.... but than again, that's true of pretty much every store other than Walmart.

We registered there and a few guests have said that they would rather write a check. Honestly that's what we prefer anyway so we are not bothered by it.

We didn't use Target because a friend told me she had trouble with the thank you list and said a lot of them didn't show up so she had to figure out who got her what.

We used Amazon and I'd do it again! A lot of people complimented us for using Amazon.

Our experience with Target has been okay I would say. Due to my schooling, we had made ours online and added items that way is well. The website is very choppy and it's hard to indicate if you want multiple of an item. You do get to see everything they have which is nice but very very very long lists. It's been working just fine though for our guests. Smiley smile

I created an online registry instead of going into the store, but made sure to include items that could be purchased in store and online if need be. I have no issues with it. I add things as I think of them and it's much easier!

My sister did her baby registry through Target and I had major issues placing my order and picking it up. I ended up not getting half of it in time even though the delivery to the store (not even to my home... I did in store pickup) was 2 weeks before the shower.

My sister had problems with it, although this was awhile ago. Stuff kept getting discontinued, so she had to continually update it and it also didn't always show things as purchased so she got several duplicates.

We have one and haven't had any problems. Setting it up in store wasn't anything exciting but we didn't have any issues with scanners.
