Surgery Update

I posted before about being stressed and nervous but not about wedding. I'm not sure if all of you remember but my FH had his heart vale surgery yesterday. Where to start? ST we had to bath him with special soap twice before the surgery. Once the nite b4 and once the day of. The Pre-op was the day before & took half a day. We had to walk half the hospital over to get signatures and make sure we had everything we needed done b4 the surgery. His surgery was @ AM. Well that is when he had to be there. They started the actual surgery around 9:AM.He didn't get out until 2Smiley tongueM. We couldn't c him until about PM. He was all hooked up tubes coming out everywhere. They said surgery went good. They put him on fast tack. They took the tubes out by PM and by 6:30 he said hungry but he couldn't eat yet. Shortly after I left with his fam 2 go eat. We came back around 8PM and he was doing good. Sitting up watching TV, talking and joking. We left around 9:30pm & he was still doing good. Then this cont

Morning when we called we found out around 5:AM that they had to put his tubes back in him BC he was having trouble with his oxygen and trouble breathing. They also had to sedate him to keep him calm and resting. They had the oxygen up on the max level to begin with but have been able to take it down to about middle level to keep him breathing and his oxygen at the right level. They are keeping him on that for now. Not sure how long he will be like this. He does seem to be doing better now than this morning. Please keep praying.

Right now we are not sure what caused his breathing problems it could be a few things. The worst one being a blood clot that went to the lungs but we believe they have ruled that out. He could have exacerbated fluid into his lungs. The RD was that he could be coming down with a bad cold and didn't have symptoms yet. Hoping to know more later. Oh he was so cute 2 days b4 he went in 4 surgery we got his wedding ring and he had to wear it until the day of surgery. Then he told me to wear it and wear my ring on top BC that away we can always be 2gether. Also when I think of him I can rub the ring. I've been doing a lot of that.

Thanks ladies! You all are so wonderful! The prayers mean so much to me. Ok they are thinking that he caught a cold but had no systems of it before the surgery. That the cold is why he was having trouble breathing. They took cultures; they do show some signs of bacteria. They have been giving him meds for that. He did a a slight fever that has gone away for now. His white blood cells are up which is good bc that is a sign his body is frightening it. They started the oxygen on his machine at 90 to keep his oxygen at 100 and his breathing normal. (a very high does.) They have been able to wean him down to 30 to keep his oxygen at 100 and his breathing normal.(much lighter does.)They switched his meds that keep him sedated and his pain meds and he is now responding better. He wakes up some and squeezes our hands. Tried reaching for my boob which was embarrassing but good bc he is acting more like his self when he is able to. Today was a lot less scary but still worried.
