Special ways to include children into ceremony

Christina, on July 12, 2013 at 7:02 PM Posted in Married Life 0 8

So my FH and I have been together 4 years in August and we are planning a long engagement and then a beautiful and fun wedding. Our ceremony will be a traditional wedding nothing fancy. We are playing a song to remember my mom but that's the only deviation from the traditional way so far. We have a daughter together and I'm looking for a way to make her feel special in the ceremony because she is our everything. Who knows there may be another munchkin running around by that time too but I just want to incorporate our kids in a way that makes them feel special and a part of the day. Any thoughts/suggestions?

I'm trading out the unity candles for the sand cermony. I have 3 boys ages 13, 10, 9 from a previous marriage and my FH doesn't have any kids and insisted we involve them in the wedding so they know that not only does he want to marry me but wants the kids too... They are picking there own color of sand and they are picking each a song in the reception that I will dance with them!

I made my daughter my MOH and my son the RB. But, to show our families coming together as one since my H doesn't have kids, we did a sand ceremony. It was really special.

Sand ceremony. You could have your FH and your daughter exchange vows. That's what my oldest and FH are doing.

My daughter will be 5 when we get married. I like the sand idea but I'm also looking for something that's different and creative. My brain feels like mush and I cant come up with anything new.

I would have them exchange vows. FH's and my oldest goes like this:

Aaron, you have already demonstrated your love to this child by opening your heart and your home to them. On this day do you welcome this child into your life as a permanent part of your family?

Jaiden do you accept Aaron into your life not as a replacement to the father you already have but as a welcome addition to your family?

That's sweet. I don't think that will work so much for us since my FH is my daughters father. I'm thinking I'm going to make her like a junior bride so she gets her own little dress and she gets some spot light. She will also get to choose a song to dance with her daddy to cause that's so sweet and I know if will make everyone cry including me lol.

I have not yet used this, but I think it is a really nice idea.
