Shuttle buses? Yeah or Nay?

How far away is the reception place from the hotel? Are your guests renting cars? How many are flying vs. driving?

We're flying to a wedding in May and I'm renting a car. Because I'm renting a car, I wouldn't use the shuttle bus because I'd want to leave on my own accord.

The hotel and reception site are only 1.2 miles apart, but if people are drinking, that's still too far IMHO. I know for some, just paying the airfare is a stretch on their budget. I know people can car pool, I just don't want anyone driving under the influence.

If you can afford it, then go for it. If it's stretching your budget, I'd leave it out. People will hopefully have designated drivers.

Preventing drunk driving is very important to me. And I think its worth every penny. And I am sure guests would appreciate the fact that they do not need to worry about transportation. It is a lot of money, but there is also a lot of peace of mind for you and your guests.

Thats a good deal and Id do it. But, there are plenty of cabs in that area so id have cab numbers available if you dont.

We are having a shuttle. We live in a small town where there are no hotels. Our host hotel is 10 miles away. I'd hate to think of my wedding day as the day a loved one passed away because of an accident.

If you do decide this, make sure the runs start early. Literally every weekend we are holding the ceremony because the shuttle is late. EVERY WEEKEND.

Celia, our ceremony is at 3pm at the church, the reception is at 5pm. I was hoping people can find their own way to the church, that way no one will be late to the ceremony. I will probably only need the shuttle from 4:30 to about 5:15 to get all the knuckleheads (and I say that as a term of endearment) from the hotel to the reception. I'm thinking if 80 people out of 100 use it, that's 4 trips at about 10 - 15 minutes per round trip. Then it will take them back to the hotel at the end of the night.

Probably should. I only have 4 guests at the nearby hotel and I'm providing a shuttle for them.

We are serving alcohol, so we are providing shuttle buses from the ceremony to the reception to the hotel for our guests.

I am actually wanting to do the same thing. The distance groom the reception to hotel is a few miles and I would prefer to have my guest all living st the end if the night if I can help it.
