Seating chart & check in?

Ms. Tee, on March 7, 2017 at 9:16 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

BackgroundSmiley atonishedo one of FH cousins decided to call and ask for 3 more seats plus the two she was given. She put that they will only attend the ceremony. Both ceremony and reception are in the same place..

so now FH thinks we should have someone doing some sort of check in with a list. We already planned a seating chart and he thinks nobody will use the seating chart. Am I crazy for thinking this is too much or does he have some logic? The idea of someone sitting by a door with a list reminds me of a conference or workshop..

The hell? No. You tell your friend that you cannot accommodate the three extra people...even if it's "just for the ceremony." Do not do a check in list. Create the seating chart as planned.

I've never been to a wedding where people ignore the seating chart. It's not impossible but I think that's rude from your guests given there's a reason why you made a chart. Any adult should assume that it's to be followed

I would say no to adding guests

And once you learn that no is a complete sentence you won't need to do a "checkpoint" for the wedding. Extra and unnecessary work Smiley smile

I was just at a wedding that had a check in. It took forever and felt like a conference instead of a wedding. I enjoy looking at the seating charts early but this way I had no idea where I was sitting till I had to stand in line waiting to check in

I've never seen people ignore a seating chart. Maybe 2 people "trade" seats.

Why would 3 people that you don't know want to go to your ceremonY?

That's how I feel about the check in- this isn't a conference. I said no but the cousin keep texting him and not me. We are bumping heads now about this check in thing- which I'm not going to do..

I haven't been to a wedding where people ignore the seating chart, if they do it is incredibly rude!
