Reintroduction, 1-week check in, and thank you

Brandee, on June 5, 2016 at 10:03 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 5

Hi, y'all! It's been at least a few months since I've been on here, so I thought I would introduce myself again for the newbies and maybe for the oldies who may not remember me. I'm Brandee from Austin, TX and am getting married in one week to my best friend, my rock, my love. I've been wanting to write this for a bit but never found the time. Now that I'm on bed rest and am not allowed to talk under doctor's orders for the remainder of the weekend, I thought I would take a minute.

Thank you all for the advice you have given me and each other since I've been a part of this community. You helped me gracefully maneuver some planning ups and downs. It hasn't been an easy year. Among some of the downs: one of my bridesmaids had a reversal of finance matters and can no longer be part of the party, my FH lost his job earlier this year, and most recently, I was in the ER yesterday with a bad virus/bronchitis and laryngitis. (continuing below in comments)

The ups that have happened: FH and I are stronger than ever. And you all helped me to realize (through others' posts and similar situations) that I shouldn't replace the bridesmaid, uneven numbers on both sides of the aisle really don't matter, and there are other things to stress about. You helped me what was feasible to DIY and what isn't. I've done quite a bit with extensive planning and I'll post some pictures later if people would like to see them (paper flower bouquets with our favorite poets, etc.). So thank you.

This post is not to attract pity. I just want to show you that no matter what stage of the planning you are in, things will arise. Just breathe deeply and rely on friends, family, and this community of kind people who will let you know when you stray from good common sense. I KNOW there will be stuff that I won't be able to get done in the next seven days. But hopefully I can crank the last of the paper flowers out today while in bed and start my thank-you notes. Be positive. Wedding planning is what you make it. HUGS to you all, and I appreciate you. My sincerest apologies for not being more active here. I hope once the wedding is over, I can come back and help people out the way I've been helped.
