Registry issues

Hi all,

My fiance and I have been together a long time, we own a home and are well established. We do not need anything for our house and am not sure what to do. I read that honey moon funds are tacky ( which I personally don't care) but what do you suggest we do instead? I don't like the idea of asking for money but we really truly do not need anything else and really would love to be able to have a nice honey moon. I've seen where people register and have people buy specific items like a dinner, or a fun activity. Is that better then a honeymoon fund? Or do we just not register for anything and get what we get?

Thanks for your input!

Just don’t register, simple as that. Anything else comes off as tacky.

What you're describing is still a honeymoon fund, because while your guests think that they're purchasing a dinner, you just get a check for one lump sum. Just don't register and people will get the hint.

Make a small registry. Everyone has things they could use. FH and I have everything we need, we upgraded a bunch of things last year, and we still found 77 things to put on our registry. A nicer knife set, matching wine glasses, higher quality food storage containers, a baseball dartboard, etc. People want to help set you guys up for the long run. Also, think of the guest who can only afford to spend $25 on a gift, and may feel embarrassed about putting that much in a card, but could get you a nice bamboo cheese board set for instance (a $25 item on our registry).

I have been adding something to the registry every time the future husband and I say we need something or to replace something. Also so far tons of people have been super for giving us money I'd that is what we want. Also I added stuff to our registry like new suitcases and other items we will need for traveling for our honeymoon.

That is true. I am sure there a few things we could upgrade to. It would be nice to have a few cheaper things like you said. Thank you!

My FH and I both own our own homes and are having to purge stuff to consolidate. We both really don’t want gifts we will have to find a place for or worse get rid of. What we did was not register and on the registry section of our wedding page we listed our favorite charities and asked if people really felt the need to give a gift to please donate to one of them in our honor instead of purchasing something

I would do a small registry. Some people are uncomfortable sending a check. If you include items at all different price points, it’s incluusive to everyone and allows you to receive some items that you might not have purchesed just because.

My FH is OBSESSED with the sous videos got off our registry!

We did a small Amazon registry with unique items for hunting, camping, and fishing. I added some fancy serving trays and holiday tableware I probably wouldn't have purchased on mine own. So we have around 40 items for 220 guests. Other than that, we aren't registered anywhere else. I'm hoping the gifts are purchased by people who like traditional gift giving, then everyone else gifts money.
