Red lipstick

Ladylove30047, on May 24, 2016 at 10:06 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 86

My wedding colors are black and white with a pop of red. I want my BM's to wear red shoes and rock a red lip. I mentioned this the other night and now one if then suggest that she's too fair skinned for a red lip and to not do that to her. I didn't say anything in that moment because we were drinking and it wasn't the time... But I'm wondering if i should host a BM meeting to cover basics with everyone so we are on the same page

Please don't force anyone to wear a certain lipstick or makeup. It's not worth the fight.

Some people just do not like certain styles of makeup--and to be frank, some people just don't look good in certain styles.

What?? A BM meeting to cover the basics? They are not your minions. I hate lipstick and would despise being forced to wear a bright red lip.

You want your girls to feel comfortable and enjoy your day with you. Don't force them to wear the exact same makeup. Trust me its not worth loosing a friend over lipstick.

Honestly, it's your day and I know my bm's are respecting my wishes, however with that said, I'm not demanding a certain lip color. I know for a fact my MOH would not want to wear red lipstick at all as she never wears lipstick to begin with. I think I would just set guidelines, but let them wear what they want.

You want everyone to look & feel beautiful so they can focus on doing a good job & attending to you. If you make your BM's feel pressured odds are they will return the stress to you.

Red lips don't look good on everyone so I wouldn't force that on your bridal party. You want everyone to look and feel fabulous that day too.

I would never wear red lipstick. I know that it looks horrible on me, and, in turn, would make me feel icky. Please don't force your bridal party to wear a certain color of lipstick!

Just because it is your day doesn't mean you can force your Bm's to do something they don't feel comfortable with. You are not the queen.

You ARE a queen, to your FH. But be kind to the ladies.

So. There is a red for everyone.

But it's not the same red.

It's taken me almost two years of hunting to find my reds that I love. And I have a giant fucking pile of product to prove it.

Beyond the whole 'your bridesmaids aren't props issues...as that's already handled.... From a make up perspective what your asking is difficult. It's hard because reds are tough. AND.

    BIG FAT AND.

Wearing red lips is a huge issue for some people.jt takes a while to wear it. Like they don't have the confidence to do so.

So not only are you trying to get a uniform color (never going to hapoent).. You may be inadvertently asking someone to step WAY outside their comfort zone.

    So. Tread carefully.

I agree with above, do not force it on her. If you want, maybe you could ask her to try it and see how it looks. Maybe if she puts it on she would find it looks good or maybe she would be willing to wear it for the pictures and then take it off. There may be a compromise somewhere if you ask, but if she doesn't feel comfortable you risk your friendship by being overpowering as a bride. Good luck!

So your friend says, "please don't make me do this thing," and you decide to call a meeting to tell everyone that they have to do the thing?

    1. BM meetings are super high maintenance never necessary.

    2. Be a better friend.

You are overthinking it. And, to be honest I doubt that I would show up to a meeting about makeup. Not everyone likes red lipstick. Let them decide what looks best on them.

As an mua, bright red doesn't look good on every skin tone. (Including myself!) I would be upset if I was obligated to wear it. You have to find the right red shade to go with each skin tone.

If I had to wear a red lip I would feel totally uncomfortable and it would show in the pictures! I would probably tell my friend no or else be highly annoyed.....probably a combo of both!

I look like a legit transvestite in a bright red lip. Please don't force your friends to wear makeup they feel ugly in.

BM meeting? Covering the basics? Same page? uhhh..... This is not the best plan of action.

Your FRIEND is uncomfortable wearing red lipstick? No red lipstick! Not everyone looks good in it. YES, there is a shade for everyone out there, somewhere. I'd be super pissed if a friend of mine required me to spend the time, money, and effort to try and find it! I don't own a red lipstick and probably never will. You can't just go buy any old red and have it look good. I think you need to re-think this..

What basics need to be covered? That's all I'm stuck on.

And there is no way in hell someone could make me wear a certain lipstick. Sure, buy me some red shoes but lipstick, nope.

I don't think you should make a big deal about it- maybe she can find red tinted gloss that she's more comfortable with. Although, I do want to say- there is a shade of red lipstick out there for every shade of skin. Lol tell her if she's uncomfortable it's not a must buy ask her to play with some different shade, she may just find something she loves!
