Recommendations for Honeymoon Registry??

SoonTobeMrsRode, on April 20, 2015 at 7:42 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 14

Hi, so my fiance and I were thinking registering for a Honeymoon is a much better idea than the typical home stores since we recently bought our house and really don't need anymore kitchenware, and etc. We want to make sure that the company we go for is something easy for our guests to use, reasonably cheap for us, and if possible doesn't charge our guests fees. We were looking into Sandals, but it doesn't seem to have much places to select from. I also visited honeymoonpixie.com but I am not sure if anyone has recommendations or reviews on them?. I also read that Liberty Travel Agents can set up a registry that goes directly towards our trip, but I am not sure if their agents are very expensive? Our wedding is August 8th this year, so I want to set it up asap, I just don't have many ideas, but do you guys have any recommendations?

Please and Thank you!!

I will probably do the same...but I am not going to say it on here.....No recommendations. I am just here to watch the fireworks that are about to occur.

Honeyfund. They take a percentage so it is obviously a great deal. It's even better than cash.

You will get a lot of back lash for this post, sadly. Just wanted to warn you.

I am one who loves the idea of a HM registry. We have one. It's our only registry. We have a house full of stuff so we saw no reason to create a registry elsewhere. We are using Honeyfund.com it does charge you if you chose the option of pay by card but if you chose cash or check it's 100% free lol

I hope you get the answers you are looking for. Good luck!

I'm not a fan. I would much rather register for something that I will be able to use more than once (like household objects).

You are going to get a lot of backlash from people on here, fyi. Don't get upset with some of the answers.

You should supplement the honeyfund by also including a poem in your invites asking for cash. Also, a money dance (or something similar, including having someone kidnap you and not giving you back until after a certain amount is raised-- one great idea I just heard today!) is a great way to raise extra funds.

Have you thought about cutting reception costs so that you can get people to give you money without spending a lot of money on them? Popular strategies include cash bars, not feeding full meals, and asking people to bring their own chairs. (But under no circumstances should you limit spending on decor, favors, useless signs, stuff for your bridesmaids that say "bridesmaid", etc.)

    Hope this helps!!! Smiley smile

    Thank you guys!!

But I don't understand or guess I'm confused why people will come and back lashing on the post?! Lol. Unless they have nothing better to do if it is that they don't have any recommendations. I just thought I'd ask since Im new and need the help deciding

Futuremrslave is joking! Don't do any of that! It's very tacky to ask people for cash and honeymoon registries are considered tacky. Especially on WW!

    That was hilarious though Futuremrslave!

People will get upset because you are asking your guests for cash which is rude. You should have the honeymoon you can afford, not have one that your guests are paying for.

Asking for cash is rude. In any form. Cute poem or not. Asking for a honeymoon or a mortgage or a new car; same thing.

Registries exist so guests can buy things to theoretically start the couple out in a new home together, and yes, that's antiquated too,but the tradition survives.

    Thank you!

In all honesty at first I thought the same, but honestly, creating a "gift registry" at a home store, or even accepting presents is the SAME exact thing. WHY make the guests waste their money in stuff we already have, or if we're talking "rude" i guess accepting any kind of present (in which they're spending their money) should be considered rude. We have the money to do our honeymoon in case no one chooses to gift us the money, because we are not forcing anyone, but if they choose to that's appreciated. I don't understand why if anyone can't do a recommendation, get their nose on the way we decide to do our registry Smiley smile

We have done a registry for some of your typical bridal gifts but also have a HM registry with Zola. We are combining houses but there are some things that we upgrade or want - new towels and sheets, fire pit, outdoor speaker, etc. On Zola we created items so people are giving us "experiences" rather than just looking at it as giving us money although it is just cash. We added items like Drinks in Florence, Gondola ride in Venice, Train tickets to Rome, A night stay in Naples, etc. Giving/receiving experience gifts are much more memorable to me.

I know - don't register and then when people ask, just say "oh we have everything we need, we're just trying to save for X" Honeyfunds are needless middlemen asking for your guests to pay for a luxury vacation.

Also - You obviously have no idea how the internet works.
