Really Disappointed by Some of the "Regrets" :(

Asheyna, on July 16, 2013 at 5:23 PM Posted in Planning 0 21

Getting some Regrets in the mail and via the website that I'm so disappointed by. People I was really hoping would make it and are unable to for all kinds of reasons.

Makes me really sad each time I get one Smiley sad

Don't Let it bother you. People have their own lives and your day will be special for you and your hubby whether they come or not. The important thing is that you will be married to your best friend. Keep smiling and move right on!

Yes me too. Mostly family that all said they were coming from TX. But when my grandma passed away in march they all flew up for that so now the responses I'm getting are , "well because we were just there" ass holes. I was at all of their weddings growing up my parents took us to Tx when they all got married. Bummer. And some of my friends are bumming me out. It's OK it will still be a full wedding

Oh I understand people have lives. We tried SO hard to make sure that people we really wanted to be there knew the date as far in advance as possible to keep it free.

But yes, both our parents, all our siblings, my daughter and FH will be there. That's all that matters. The rest are options. Just disappointing, was looking forward to sharing the day with them.

It won't ruin the day, just sad in the lead-up.

I have a feeling that I'm going to be going through the same thing here in a few weeks.

Even though my friends have known about this since January - I'm already getting people hinting around reasons they might not make it. So, I know when I send invitations out in a week or so - I'm going to be disappointed with some of the responses. Smiley sad

You can't let it bother you. I know it sucks because one of my best guy friends can't come to my wedding and he always promised he would make it to my wedding, but life happens. So you just have to suck it up, and be excited about the ones who can come!

Just found out that even the pastor and his wife aren't able to make the reception. Normally he wouldn't have been able to do the ceremony at all as it's his one weekend off this summer, but as we're friends he's coming back for the morning from his camping trip to marry us.

The Ceremony Yes. Reception No 's keep rolling in and I'm just so sad Smiley sad

I'm so sorry, Ladies. When you are wanting to share with these people I can understand it must hurt a little - even if you know you will have the best day

    EVER!

We are only inviting 50 and as a result are feeling like almost all of them will come. Can't lie...if we do get declines it is a reduction in cost and we will be just fine with that. Smiley winking Not so fine for those who RSVP yes and do not show though. ha

I feel the same way. Al ot of my family members say they can't afford to come, yet they have a trip booked to Miami a few weeks after the wedding. Oh, and then they're complaining about the out of town location of the wedding (my hometown) and wondering why I didn't do it closer to NYC (where they live). Pretty hurtful Smiley sad

Everyone has their own priorities and this is a time to see who really values you and who doesn't. The most important people will be there with you on your day Smiley smile

Mrs. Polson, considering how expensive travel is, I would hope you'd understand that they put your grandmothers funeral before your wedding.

Yeah, I hear you. One of my best friends first said Yes, then a couple of weeks ago told me she accepted a contract out of town, and wouldn't be able to make it. So disappointing. Especially that she is off work the weekend of our wedding, and could come, but decided she'd stay over there, it's easier. Oh well. I'm only getting married once, so it's her loss. And I will have an awesome wedding day anyway Smiley smile

Yeah it sucks. A lot of people bailed on me this week...I don't get why they wait until the last minute though.

I really do think people try to make attending weddings a priority, so I'm sure they have good reason for "regretting." It is disappointing, but crass or not, think of the money you're saving.

Oh I know it'll save money. My invite list was 155 people, was hoping for closer to 100. But will all the reception regrets we're getting it looks as though it might be as low as 70 or 80. I'd personally like it to to be 80-90 (although I think that's wishful thinking) because I don't want the hall and tables to look too empty Smiley sad

Asheyna, you never know though, some may surprise you. Some people we were sure of wouldn't come, have said yes, so you may have a few more. When is your deadline?

@Sprinkle87 - I'm having the same issue. A lot of my friends are hinting around not being able to afford to come here for the wedding -- yet, they are ALL going on several vacations this year and spending money left and right to go out and do other things. It's hurtful because I know they could have saved the money to come to the wedding - they just chose not to.

My deadline was Monday. And I'm still missing about 25 RSVPs. Most of the rests I think are gonna be no's as their out of town guests who aren't close.

just add coffee - you can't be hurt by what people prioritize their money for. You aren't them and you don't know what kind of situation their in. As I said, we have to keep reminding ourselves that no one is as excited about our day as we are.

Yes, they could have not taken a vacation and come to your wedding instead. But maybe it was important for them as a family.

I'm not angry with the people who can't come, I totally understand. Even some of the ones where I think they maybe could have rearranged things. That's not my call. I'm just bummed they won't be there.
