I'm looking for makeup/hair. What do you think of this vendor?

    Professional opinion, coming right up....

Ok. There are a few red flags in her insta. She posts a lot of pictures that are styled shoots that it seems she had nothing to do with. It's one thing to admire the work of others and another to kinda make it seem like you did the work. She doesn't outright claim it, it it kinda comes across that way. Also, I don't seem much variety/diversity in her work. Last thing. There also are some strange color combinations I'm seeing...cool tones mixed with warm sometimes works, but most of the time it doesn't. In one of her pics she has a client with a very cool toned, dramatic eye look, paired with a very dramatic warm tone. Red lip. It's too much drama and the mixed tones is confusing to the eye...you don't know where to look and overall it's just unpleasing to look at. I can tell she has talent. But I'd advise you to be very specific with what you want, and don't be afraid to ask her to fix thing you don't like... and also to make sure you see if she has done work on your skin tone. If your very fair, you should be good.

Please!! I feel like I've looked at a ton of hair/MUAs and am having trouble telling the difference in their work. I suck at this one.

Also, pick a feature you want to highlight for your day....might be eyes, or lips or glowy skin. Tell her you want that feature to stand out and she should be able to do that, down playing the rest a bit. Overall it gives a much better effect that doing all of them.

But she's not crappy as far as technique? Just needs help with colors? We are doing a beach wedding and I consider myself a beach girl. I want something super sunkissed/glowy looking.

No, overall her her technique looks solid. I wish I could see a little closer up. But it's Instagram... No zoom!

So you want the focus on Dewey, glowy skin. That's great! Good direction for your mua. I'd suggest major lashes, very natural Browns/gold on the eye, and a neutral lip. Not sure your skin tone, but I'm sure you'll be beautiful. I think she's capable of doing what you need.

Your picture is exactly what I was thinking! Her pics show she can do a dewy beachy look.

I'm still looking for others but she's a definite possibility.

ETA: as far as your last comment I always think you can never have enough lashes. They're my favorite makeup thing to play with :-)

Technique looks good but it might be a little dramatic for my taste. I got my makeup for my E pics done at Butterfli Me studio in Irvine and I really loved how it came out!

Oh wow you're in an awesome area for that! Have you considered looking into hiring a low key Celebrity makeup artist? Many people think they charge ridiculous amounts of money, and while some do, there are some that are pretty reasonable. I was watching The Real Housewives of NJ one day and I thought "I love the way their makeup is always done." So I did some research on who does their makeup and eventually got in contact with the MUA! She is super sweet, but super busy since she does a lot of other Bravo show's makeup too. But I contacted her back in May and booked her and her prices were surprisingly reasonable. There are so many of those kinds of MUAs out there near you. It's worth a shot anyway, right?
