Rant: Why the EFF does it take over a month to get an answer?! About to cancel...

L + A, on July 1, 2014 at 2:17 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

Sorry, I have to get this out. We have a caterer through a specialty grocery store, and we went up to the city we're getting married in on June 5th to finalize some details for other vendors, and stopped in to said grocery store to see their florist options. They were beautiful and a good price, so the florist told us to let the catering manager know. 2 emails and a phone call later I STILL do not have an answer from her! I know it's wedding season and all but honestly, almost a month and no answer yet?! I'd like to do nothing more but cancel, but they partner with the rental company we're using and will set it up, and that's the only caterer in the area we can find that will do set up/take down/ceremony to reception switch and that's important to FH and our families that they don't have to do it. UGHHHH I want to switch to the store the next town over at the very least! We already put a 1k deposit down though so I'm not sure what we really can do.

End rant. Thanks for listening!

Eck, vendors can be such a pain. But can't host a wedding with out them!

    Good Luck!

Vendors are the worst. My dj wouldn't call me back I had to find another one on short notice two months out. Good luck I hope they return your call soon. I would keep calling if all else fails go in and demand to see someone.

I'm sorry, this is so frustrating! I had terrible issues getting one caterer to contact me.

Can you contact the florist to let them know you contacted the catering manager as suggested and have received no response?

Today canceled my Shuttle service for 35 ppl...because of the lack of communication. No return phone calls nor emails. I called my cc to show how I should handle this. They advised me to keep all emails so they will have proof I canceled within the required time. UGH...

I was luck to find a nice little family owned buisness to replace them

Thanks ladies-I haven't contacte the florist yet. I didn't want to drag her into it. So frustrating though, I'm not sure if we get the 1k back and that's a lot of money to waste because this catering manager can't get her sh*t together.

How much trouble would it be to just pick a new one? If I don't hear back from a prospective vendor in less than three weeks, I move on. Honestly. Wedding season or no, responding to an email shouldn't be that hard. If they're so busy they can't check their email, then they'll be too busy while they're working on your services. Who wants rushed work?
