Rant: Photographer Just Cancelled My Engagement Pics Session

OK rant over. I just had to get this off my chest.

I'd be REALLY annoyed too. I guess he didn't know he was going to have conferences...but how frustrating to try to find another day to get all those same appointments!

That would also piss me off. I'm sure you'll work something out and look stunning either way though!

That seems pretty unprofessional in my opinion. Is there anything in your contract about changing dates? I would be pretty upset since you have already scheduled other appointments.

Tell him all of that - how long it takes to line up appointments to prep for them, that you had to arrange time off, etc. At the very least it should drive home that his unprofessional behavior has consequences...at best you may get a discount.

He claims that the school only recently told him what the date was for the conferences.

I belive he only works part time at the school.

I would be super annoyed. I hope you are able to reschedule everything. If not you will look amazing!

I unfortunately am Extremely petty and I would be so pissed my ENTIRE entourage would show up at his parent conference and wait so I could get my damned pictures that I scheduled for and got off work for and got hair appt. For ect.

I can only speak for the school systems in my area, but I do know that when it comes to parent-teacher the teachers aren't always notified of things such as conferences and other school schedules until they return and even to that the conference may not have been scheduled and told to the teachers until after school started.

ETA: Also, the original date may have changed. Unfortunately, when it comes to school events it happens. I agree its frustrating but as long as he is willing to appropriately accommodate you all will be fine. Enjoy, you'll look beautiful, I'm sure!

Teachers usually know about these things before the schools year even starts so he should have known if he had checked the school calander!

That is frustrating. Keeping in mind your wedding, I'd make sure there is NOTHING (aside from unforeseen emergencies) that will keep from committing to your wedding day.

What happens if something unforeseen comes up on your wedding day, will he just bail? I'd be livid that I took time off from work and scheduled everything around it for this to happen!

I agree with Future. I just found out last week that conference night is today. It does suck though. Sorry for the hassle. It may or may not be his fault. You can probably look at the school website to find out for sure. I would ask for a discount.

However, to solve the problems. If hair and makeup is booked maybe try Sephora or MAC? I've had good luck with makeup there and I am using them for my engagement pics. Maybe your stylist can recommend someone to step in? I go to a curl specialist and she always has a backup she refers to.

Extremely unprofessional. I would cancel with him and demand all my money back for the wedding deposit. If he already had scheduled with you, he should have told the school sorry I am already booked for that day. No professional would flake on a client. This photographer is showing he is extremely unreliable and not good to work with.

This is very unprofesssional. I know unforeseen things can happen, but this would lower my trust level with him. I would look into getting a new photographer.

This is super unprofessional and i would be extremely pissed and probably cancel him for the wedding!!! I wouldn't be able to trust this guy for the wedding- wouldn't be worth the aggravation!

That is really annoying. I'm siding towards O&S on this. How reliable will this photographer be the day of the wedding? This would make me super nervous.

I'd be looking for a new photographer ASAP. You don't have time for such nonsense. No one does.

I have to think about firing him. We are getting a good deal because he's part of a consortium of local vendors. It really does rub me the wrong way.
