(rant) I need help with colors, i can't make up my mind... im so lost...

FutureMrsT, on December 27, 2013 at 11:12 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 17

Fh isn't much help with this, hes "taking the path of least resistance" & all my BMs say " whatever you want its your day" :-( im getting married on ocean isle beach, NC. My flower girl requested to wear pink & at the time I wasnt really keen on pinks & thought coral would be a good compromise but even the coral dresses look too pink to me! I was thinking of putting the guys in light blue/ aqua but im really afraid its going to look like a baby shower, the coral & aqua I see are so light, practically pastel & I really want bright tropical colors. I also have to consider what will compliment my dress, which is ivory & satin, w/ big clear gems on the front, its very beautiful & flattering but its nothing like what I envisioned & so im having second thoughts. Ugh! Im so lost!

The coral dresses at David's don't look pink at all. Coral, to me, is a pinky-orange, but more orange than pink.

How about this - put your guys in gray suits with aqua vests and coral bouts. Put your girls in aqua dresses, with coral sashes and coral flowers.

Give your groom a gray suit with a ivory shirt and vest, and one of your flowers as his bout. Your groom is really the only one that needs to match you, except maybe your dad.

What about using the aqua as an accent for the guys?

I really don't think you should decide on your wedding colors based on your flower girl's request. If you aren't a fan of pink/coral, then don't do it. That girl will one day have her own wedding and she can put her flower girl in pink then if she wants! If you want bright and tropical, go for it!

I agree with Jackie. Then have the flower girl wear white and give her a coral sash and coral flowers. That way the colours aren't over done. They can be accent colours without being THE colours.

Coral is a really tough choice because there are literally a billion different shades of coral and it's so hard to match them up. I don't regret choosing coral (and navy and light gray) for my colors at all but I don't care as much about shades matching perfectly.

What colors would you be doing if you didn't have to work around the flower girl's request?

My flower girl is 6 going on 7, shes my niece, her older sister is also in the wedding & we are all really close so I asked for their input. I don't really want her in white or ivory, most flower girl dresses look.like they are for babies so I was going to have her in the same color as the older girls.

As for the guys we aren't asking them to wear suits, just a button down & khakis. Idk if we will give them buttomier(sp?)

I just don't know what I truly want, I keep changing my mind.

I still like coral but I want like an orangey pink not peach like dbs coral. I think dbs poppy might be closer but I havnt seen it in person. In person DB coral looks peachy, vs online it looks very pink. The DB guava is also a little more pink than I like. Maybe the color im looking for isnt really coral. Thx for the pic jet now im sure I don't want blue or aqua, maybe turquoise but not sure if the groomsmen will wear it again, & I hate having them buy a shrt they will only wear once. The same goes for the bms, im hoping they will be able to/want to wear their dress again, so im letting them pick dif dresses as lobg as they are the same color, and knee length or shorter.

Do tan suits on the men, white shirts, and buy them the tie of your color choice as a gift to them.

Nice pics, I like the two dif shades of red/pink. Not doing suits, this is a very informal wedding, beach casual, like what you would see if you go out to dinner at a nice restaurant.
