Question about flip flops

Happy In Hawaii, on November 26, 2014 at 8:06 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 5

I'm doing a couple baskets of flip flops for my guests to dance in (and around here most people call flip flops slippers or "slippas" in more of the accent). In pictures on pinterest it looks like most people tie the pairs together and maybe put something on it with the size. I was talking to my FH about this and he asked what do people do with the ribbon once they untie the flip flop pair. I said they could just throw it back in the basket or on the table. He thought that would look messy though. So is it okay to not have the pairs physically tied together? Or if not, do I need to designate some sort of area for people to put the tie?

I'd love to hear how others did this at their wedding or if you've seen it done at a wedding.

And of course, here's a picture of what I have so far (this is without them tied together) and the second picture is my inspiration picture.

Personally, I like the look of them tied together. I get that your FH thinks the discarded ribbon may look messy, but I would assume your reception venue has people on staff to bus tables and keep things neat and tidy...I would assume that while they are clearing away empty glasses they would pick up any trash (including the ribbon) and dispose of it.

Good point Maltese, yeah the staff could help pick it up.

@Rosemary, that's a good idea, I could probably just find something around the house just for people to put the ribbon in.

I like them tied together but maybe you could have a basket for each size?

Or maybe an empty basket for the ribbons would work.

    Great idea, for sure!

What about something bio-degradable around the slippas? Smiley winking

@Rynney, I am doing two different baskets and just putting a divider in to designate the sizes, the ribbon would be more for keeping a pair together, not sure I'd even note the size that way.

@ItsGoodToBeKing, haha at least you understand it's slippas! That's a pretty good idea, our reception will be inside though, so it's not totally necessary (but I'd definitely do it if our dancing was outside!)
