Puerto Rico honeymoon recommendations!

Jessica, on April 28, 2017 at 8:17 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 9

So DF and I are definitely going to Puerto Rico for our honeymoon and I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on where to stay and what to do? Also what did y'all do for transportation? Anything will help! Thanks!

Depends on what you want to do- PR girl here! If you want a retreat type thing I would go to the W in Vieques if you like the night life I would stay in San Juan/old San Juan. My recommendation is to rent a car and see the island! Every town has something special-some more than others. I grow up in the SW by the ocean and I think that where the best beaches are.

    I can keep going...

We decided we didn't want to stay in San Juan, as we wanted something quieter and more secluded. This is where we are staying.

We rented a car for under $200 for the week so we can visit all of the different beaches we wanted to go to, and it was only around $800 for six nights. We researched for about a month before committing and this was what we felt was the best bang for our buck.

I second going to Vieques! You'll have to take a puddle jumper flight or the ferry to get there. It's definitely less touristy than the main land but still has tons to do - Black Sand Beach, Bioluminescent Bay Kayak tours, great restaurants, etc.

Go beyond San Juan! We stayed in a house in Carolina, the north coast but we didn't just stay there...we drove to the south and came back to our place the same day. My favorite destination where I would like to go again is in the south of the island. La Parguera in Lajas, PR has a fantastic night life and the Bio-Bay. Check out the top-rated company called Paradise Scuba and Snorkeling. I went snorkeling with them then we went to the Bio-Bay at night (the only place allowed for swimming out of the 3 bio-bays in Puerto Rico).

Other personal favorites: El Yunque Tropical Rainforest, El Camuy River Cave System

As a geography major, I made an easy to use story map of Puerto Rico including 15 destinations. I'll be sharing this Story Map on here for PR honeymooners Smiley smile

Here is the link of a map I created:

Go to Culebra, Gilligan's Island, Toro Verde zip lining in Orocovis, Cueva Ventana in Arecibo, Cuevas de Camuy, Cueva del Indio in Arecibo, Crash Boat, Rincón. There's so much to do, so see the island, don't just stay in the metro area.

If you want to go to a bioluminescent bay, go to the one in Vieques, it's nicer than La Parguera IMO.
