Future mother-in-law is thinking about planning a pre-wedding reception at their weekend property in Sonoma. It will happen in August, 2 months before our actual wedding.
She thinks it might be a solution for her SF friends and distant family who can't attend our east coast wedding. We think it's a great way for her to plan her surrogate dream wedding for her first son's marriage - or the daughter she should have had... Haha!
We expect my parents and some of my family in the Bay Area to attend, but I doubt the majority of our East Coasts guests will make two treks to two different parties. Is it too much to even ask them to attend?
What do we call this? If and how do we list in our general invitation to send?
Obviously it seems rude to do a "tiered" invitation system (you're invited to west coast party but not east coast one) but kiiind of hoping it will discourage her book club and the car pool parents to attend our otherwise bloated and humble banquet wedding.
