Please, I need help! In search of a venue in Pittsburgh

H34v3nlySinsx3, on February 12, 2016 at 1:27 PM Posted in Planning 0 20

I have 100 guests (but I can cut that down). But a $4K budget (for the entire wedding). I can't find a venue that'll accommodate my budget in the Pittsburgh area. Or anything for that matter. Is it even possible to have a wedding with so little money? I'm not trying to blow all my life's savings on one day!

Yes it is possible but probably not for 100 people. I had my wedding for about that much 65 guests but not in a metropolitan area at all. Maybe cut down the guest list to your nearest and dearest and have a short sweet ceremony then have a nice dinner at a restaurant after?

It can be done but you will have to make sacrifices somewhere

I don't live in pittsburg but I have 2 inlaws that have had their weddings there and from what I understand it can be a pricey area for weddings on a national average.

Have you considered civic buildings? That could be a option.

I imagine others commenting are probably right- best way to keep wedding costs down is to keep the guest list smaller. I had a very small wedding and I loved it- less people means less stress and can actually be more fun. Smiley smile

Have you looked into the local parks? South park has several buildings with varying (low prices). So do the other parks. You can also check out local community buildings and social halls. Also check out a caterer called the Cooked Goose. We've used them for work parties, they also do wedding packages and they are very reasonable.

This literally comes up once an hour. Cut the guest list, as everyone else has said.

Okay but even cutting the guest list, I can't find a venue to host my wedding that is affordable. And my wedding is in March so a park isn't an option, I need something indoors.

I am having it at Robin Hill Park in Moon. The rental fee includes tables and chairs, and as a DIY bride I'm doing a lot but keeping to my budget. I would reduce your guest list to about 60 or less, depending on the caterer you go with. Robin Hill has a list of ones that have worked there in the past. Does that $4k also include your dress, grooms suit, rings? If so you're going to struggle and might need to go even smaller.

Eta - your name displays a May wedding date, but robin hill has indoor space, especially if you go small. I'll find a picture for you

How about a club house in an upscale neighborhood. Some upscale neighborhoods have club houses that look more like a party hall than a club house and the price to rent those is considerably less than a wedding venue.

You may also check on this site under venues in your area and contact them to see if they can accommodate your budget.

In my business I find if you can have your wedding on a weekday instead of a weekend helps with the rent fee of the venue.

Just a thought - I hope this helps

Also moving your date is an option if you don't have a venue yet. Off season and Friday/Sunday is usually cheaper than Saturday.

Could you move your date to the summer and do a park? Otherwise if you cut the guest list could you find a local mansion that rents or do it in your home? Look at VFW or American Legion Post

You'll need to cut your guest list. Our budget is 5k and we're having a maximum of 70, but most likely closer to 50. Only immediate family and friends. Look up civic centers in your area. They usually have a large banquet hall and are pretty cheap.

Cut your list, have it at a park or restaurant, have the reception during non-meal time, etc.
