Plans have changed

#takemetotuberville, on June 4, 2016 at 9:33 AM Posted in Planning 0 9

I am usually a lurker here only because I don't get on a lot to jump into convos, but I try Smiley smile. Anyway, originally we had planned having a barn wedding on a property with lots of acreage, so because of my vision, I want everything to be very simple, I want a shorter dress with boots, BP to wear boots as well. Well now we are thinking of just doing the ceremony in our church with our pastor and then moving the reception to the barn (this way it would be cheaper so we can have more to spend on the honeymoon). My question is do y'all think it's appropriate to wear our attire for a church ceremony?

Depends on the church IMO. In a grand, old cathedral with elaborate decor - maybe not. Modest church/chapel setting - I think it'll be fine. Smiley smile

We are getting married at a barn with reception to follow at the same place and we'll be rocking our boots too! Can't wait to see your pics whatever you decide.

I agree with @Antonia, depending on the church but a simple country chapel, I think that would be fine!

@antonia, it's not a grand cathedral. It's just a casual church and very contemporary.

@hickchick, I will for sure be posting pics when that time comes!

That's what FH and I wear to church and weddings for that matter in our church and other churches (unless it's specific black tie attire) all the time! If that's your style go for it! If it's forced and you have never worn boots before I would think guests might be a little confused of your new wardrobe choice but still appropriate! If your worried about others you can tell people the attire for your wedding is country causal for they know not to get Beyoncé glammed up!

It sounds like it might fit with your church. You know best in those terms. Personally I would switch my shoes to the boots for the reception and wear something more formal in Church. I lean towards more formal and definitely modest when I am in church but I'm more old fashioned Smiley smile

I think it's fine as long as it's not mini skirt length which I assume it's not!
