Pastor won't take my money!

Hello! So I used WW to find an officiant for our wedding and found one that has been super-duper responsive and so kind. We decided right away to book with him and all seemed well. Except he hasn't cashed my deposit check I sent him in August. I have emailed with him off an on since and asked if he was going to cash the check, he keeps saying "next week" and now it's late October and it's still not cashed! I am worried that something weird is going on (no idea what it could be tho). I even emailed to make sure we were officially in his calendar and he confirmed out date and time, plus rehearsal date and time... I just hate having this check out in limbo and w/o a money deposit down I feel nervous that it isn't legit. What should I do? He does have a paypal so I thought about asking him if we could pay him that way and just cancel the check... but idk! Lol, help!
