Anywhere off the beaten path is going to be good there, just be aware of touristy looking places. Equivalent would be going to NYC and eating Sbarros...

Ugh, there is one place in Venice we ALWAYS go to, right off the square, but I can't remember the name. Will look through some old pictures, see if there's a pic of the sign. Best grilled ocotopi ever!

There's a place in Venice that makes really good pizza and spinach and cheese pies. It's called Cip Ciap. I don't think they have seating in there, it's more of a casual deli style place. But it's some of the best food I've ever had. We were also able to buy a bottle of wine there and they even gave us two plastic cups! We just sat on a bench outside to eat and drink our wine.
