Online dress shopping?

July2018bride, on April 4, 2017 at 11:05 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

Hi. I wanted to know your experience with buying your wedding dress online. Did you still catch the crying, "this is the one" effect? I see a dress online I really like, but I feel like I will be taking away from the whole dress shopping experience.

I will probably end up buying my dress online (because I think I already know which one I want), but I am going for an actual in-person dress shopping appointment first. I want to see how things fit and what I like on in real life before pulling the trigger. Plus it gives my mom a chance to be there for the try on and the "omg tears" moment.

I bought mine online without ever trying anything on. Didn't care to go shopping when I had fallen in love with my dress after seeing it on a Pinterest picture. I was prepared to return it and go shopping if I didn't absolutely love it though, but luckily it was perfect!

I feel the same @Rachel I fell in love with this dress. @Berry I think I may do the same. Try a few on and get sized and everything.

I found my dress online. I then went to a local bridal shop that carried it to try it on. After I knew it was the one, I used preownedweddingdresses.com to purchase one for 1/3 of the price and in the same size that I tried on. It was a sample gown from a bridal boutique and that dress was being phased out.

I went to a couple of stores, and everything was too high for my budget, and the few that were in budget were sample dresses that were way too big, so I found a dress online.

Even though I just tried it on in my messy room late at night, I still felt like I found my perfect dress!

I would highly recommend going to a bridal shop first, know the style number and what size you wear before ordering. Bridal sizes vary quite a bit from street sizing, and even a size 12 at David's Bridal is not the same size 12 in an Alfred Angelo.

And whatever you do, don't buy anything from China!!

Edit for clarity: as in the websites that sell at huge, huge discounts. A lot of them make knock offs in countries (mostly China I've heard) and it's just a nightmare.

I bought mine online. I fortunately know all of my measurements, so I was able to order based on that. The minute I saw a photo of the dress I knew it was the one. As others have stressed, if the price seems to good to be true, that's because it probably is. There's a lot of knockoff sites out there. Do your research before you purchase anything. Also make sure they have a good return policy.

It worked out well for me, but I wouldn't say it's for everyone.

I ordered mine online but it's a standard sized gown from Lord & Taylor. Can't wait to wear it!

I was also able to find the exact dress I wanted on Tradesy for 1/3 of the retail price listed on BHLDN website Smiley smile
