Old, New, Borrowed, and Blue

Katie B to S, on November 4, 2016 at 12:43 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 25

What are you all doing?

My something old is my engagement ring which I inherited from my late grandmother (although she got it for her 50th so it's not actually excessively old).

My something blue is a heart cut from the excess fabric in FHs marine blues sewn into the dress (an idea I stole from someone on here!)

But I'm stuck on my new (I want something specific not just "ehh everything's new!!") and something borrowed.

Is your dress new? Could you borrow a piece of jewelry from your mom or someone else?

I'm borrowing my great-grandma's blue handkerchief from my aunt, so that covers old, borrowed, and blue all in one. I'm probably going to get a new necklace or something for my something new.

I didn't do it. No one I know has done it. my Mom didn't do it, and my parents have been happily married, since the late 1970s. Its' not worth stressing about.

My dress is new, and I'm probably borrowing my FMIL's string of pearls that she wore to her wedding. We are also "borrowing" FH's grandparent's wedding date.

@abegaile I like your borrowed, that's cute Smiley smile

@dreamer I want to do it. Nobody else even has to know I'm doing it, but I'm doing it because it's something I want to do.

My dress is new, my ring is blue (sapphire), and my mom is lending me her pearls that my dad gave to her over 40 years ago. I'm considering that old and borrowed (it's really not that old, but it's older than me, so it's gonna have to do).

My borrow and old was a bracelet from DHs grandmother that his sister also wore to her wedding (so it's borrowed from her).

    New was my earrings

Blue were my undies Smiley laugh

ETA: Old should have been a hanky from my grandma, but my mom didn't give them to me in time.

My something old is the diamond from my grandma's wedding ring to my grandpa in my engagement ring. My something blue is the sapphires that were in the same ring in my wedding band. The borrowed is a pearl necklace from my mom, and the new is my wedding dress Smiley smile

    Old: my mom's sapphire earrings

New: Basically everything else, but I think I counted my super cute/comfy underwear.

Borrowed: My mom had her wedding dress made into handkerchiefs for my sister and I. I couldn't find mine, so I borrowed my sister's.

Blue: My veil, ring, earrings, shoes, and petticoat.

    Smiley laugh
