NWR: turned a huuuuge corner today

Beachbride85, on August 1, 2014 at 9:42 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 4

So as a 28 year old young professional I had made some credit mistakes in my past causing my credit score to be less than helpful to my building a life. I had been denied secured credit cards and had a hell of a time getting a car and now pay astronomical rates. All my hard work and overpaying has paid off because I finally got approved for a real credit card! I am on the road to credit recovery! Next stop:dream home for me and FH!

Buy what you guys can comfortably afford, which is not necessarily what the bank says you can afford! I spent about 2/3 of what they offered me on my house and paid it off in 12 years. Modest and small, ut paid for!

Congrats! I was there once myself. Sometimes the best lessons we learn are the hardest and most expensive. A whole lot of waiting it out and on-time payments goes a long way.

Also be careful about how much of a balance you carry; don't go over 50% unless you plan to pay it off right away, because carrying a high balance hurts you tremendously.

Thanks for the too sunshinejenn I'll keep that in mind. It has really hindered us because combined we make a great household income but on paper my credit situation was hurting us. In hoping we only go up from here!
