Need to lose 30lbs by 8/30/09

athena, on January 8, 2009 at 10:00 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 22

I was just hit by a car and now I cannot do the exercise that was helping me lose weight because my knee and shoulder was injured. I am looking for a diet that will help me lose until I can get back into my regime which is walking 2 miles a day and the treadmill 2 days a week. I lost 15lbs with the help of being laid up but staying home will cause me to eat all the wrong things again.

I am definitely for south beach! SO GREAT or kimkins although imo that is a bit drastic considering how much time you have

Would Weight Watchers or a Dietitian help you out? I'm sorry to hear you can't get into your normal routine to lose the weight before your big day. I feel for you. It's still taking me time to take off all of the weight I gained being pregnant (couldn't take it off before my sister's wedding) and having a C-section (even harder to lose weight from). Is there any light exercise that might help you without using any heavy objects? Do you live near a beach where you might be able to just walk around on the sand or even in the mall. You still have time to lose the weight if your wedding is in August of 2010.

I'm sorry to correct my last post you still have time before 8/30/09. If not is it possible if your dress doesn't fit for them to add material to it (that's what had to be done to wear to my sister's wedding)?

With out exersising or changing my diet, I ate super blue green algae and went from 133 to 108 in 3 to 5 months! I say, try and stay away from hydrogenated oils!!! Eat lots of algae and drink a cup of flax seed tea every morning...nettle tea helps too, mix with raw dark blue agave syrup!

I am actually on the Cabbage Soup Diet. I've lost about 5.7 pounds in 3 days. It's a diet that you have to follow for 7 days and you can lose up to 17 pounds in a week. Each day has something different for you to eat but the basis is a cabbage soup that you eat everyday which has no calories and helps you burn fat. If you'd like I can email you the diet. I'm on the 4th day and I am so excited that I've stuck to it. Smiley smile

With your decrease in physical activity, you need to cut down on your calories consumed. The only way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you consume; it's that simple. Whether it's by consuming pre-packaged food with the serving sizes already figured out for you, a dieting plan, or by counting calories, be conscious of what you eat, and make sure you stay active. Perhaps speak to your physical therapist who is helping you with your knee and shoulder rehab about some excercises you could do that would keep you from further damaging those two areas.

Hey there! I'm about to start nutrisytems which looks helpful, especially seeing how I'm terrible with portion control. I'll let you know how it works out, but judging from the newbie forums, you start losing weight right away. Seeing how it sounds like you're active (or at least starting to get back into the swing of things) it might be a great choice for you.

    This question is for DebbieGsoonB.

I saw your response about the Cabbage Soup diet and am tempted to try it.

My wedding is also on May 23, 2009, and I need to lose about 20 pounds. It has been over a week since your comment about the Cabbage soup diet. Would you mind sharing how much weight you lost in total? Did you feel dizzy during that week that you were on that diet? My problem is that whenever I go on a diet, I am more hungry than usual, and then trying to curb that hunger and sticking to the diet makes me extremely cranky. Did you feel irritable during that week?

    Your advice/comments are greatly appreciated.

    Papijack,

I lost a total of about 11 pounds in a week. The diet helped me to cleanse my body of all the nasty stuff I was putting in it. Granted, it was probably mostly water weight but I can at least say that it helped to jump start my body. I am now more aware of the food that I'm putting in my body.

I didn't feel dizzy in the week. Whenever I was really hungry I would make sure to eat the soup or if it was a fruit day I would stuff myself with fruit. If you follow the diet it actually tells you to stuff yourself with whatever fruits/vegetables you are supposed to eat that day.

The only time that I was irritable was when my fiance started eating Oreos in front of me...LOL Smiley smile

If you would like me to email you the diet just send me a message on here. I'm planning on starting the diet this week. Just remember not to exceed the 7 days. Follow the directions and try not to cheat, it's hard but worth it in the end. Smiley smile

I dont know how you feel about canned tuna but my x is a body builder and for years now any time I need to drop some weight I eat rice and tuna for lunch and dinner 1 can of tuna in water and 1 cup cooked white rice. It gets very old but you will get the pounds off quick!!!You can have a splurge day but mainly you eat rice and tuna. I used to eat 1 cooked egg white with 1 piece of toast with no sugar jam and a coffee for breakfast, then rice and tuna. The first time I did this I dropped 50lbs. in 1 1/2 months. If you still get hungry during the day drink a big glass of water and eat a power bar or granola bar.You do need to eat a vitamin supplement just to keep other minerals and such up.

I dont recommend this all the time and I wouldnt do it for more than a month or two.(only down side I found was my boobs went way down in size.)

    Good Luck with everything.

Wow there are some interesting diets on here! Im considering doin one for myself! My suggestion is, depending on how long you need to stay your feet and such, try a 7 day Cleanse by Slimquick. It cleanses your body of toxins and gives you a jump start on your diet... other then that, I would do low impact exercises until your able to use weight to challenge yourself. Also, like another comment I read, control you carb intake, stay away from fatty foods and drink lots of fluids. Hope you get better soon and find this helpful!

I started the body-for-life program. Well its not really a program, its just a meal and exercise plan. You eat small meals 6 times a day. It helped me get health and lose weight while also building some muscle. They have a website but i don't have it on me. The website is free and there is no food or supplements you have to buy. There is also a book that explains everything that I was able to get only for around $9.

    Hope this helps.

Congrats on your engagement! During these rough economic times, a personal training might not be the easiest and most affordable way to get in shape. However, if you have Comcast On Demand, look under Sports, then go to Exercise TV. All of the workouts in Exercise TV are free and most of them are just as good if not better than a personal training. My favorite part? A lot of the workouts are designed to be a 20 or 30 min workout, so they are extremely intense but still easy to do. My favorite, anything by Jillian Michaels. Start with 30 Day Shred 1. Jillian bases everything on Circuit Training, which is proven to be the absolute FASTEST way to loose weight, for it is a constanct movement and combination of cardio and weights used for toning and fat burning (not building). If you don't have hand weights, a lot of the workouts use your own body weight. I have lost 80 pounds, I have tried everything. You will be in shock at how fast your body will change! Feel free to email me! Smiley smile

As far as diet, Weight Watchers DOES work, however it is more for maintenance,. If you need to lose weight very fast, I would rec. South Beach instead. It is more limiting, but properly controlled as to the ratio of cards: good fats: proteins. That ratio is CRUCIAL for losing weight. With weight watchers, it is easy just to coint points and not pay attention to your health. You can eat all carbs and be filling up on too much white flour or white sugar, which may be low in calories and fat, but in end turns straight unto sugar, thus is stored in the body as fat. If you follow the simple idea of eating "CLEAN" (meaning no condiments, no added salt, sauce, cheese, sugar, fats, and avoiding processed foods) you will lose weight without much effort. A good plan for that: low sugar oatmeal with berries for breakfast, lean chicken or fish with a salad or steamed veggies (avoid corn and potatoes) for dinner or lunch. Try to eat plent of fresh fruits and veggies too, the more color the better!
