Need opinions on a veil & accessories

MrsMcDougall, on January 6, 2016 at 3:01 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17

So I'm started to pick out all of the accessories for my dress and would love to get opinions because I'm not really sure what to get for some of it.

1) Veil-- I know I want something with lace trim, but should I go finger tip or chapel length? I've always imagined a long veil, but the fingertip length I tried on with my dress was really pretty.

2) Jewelry-- What to get? My hair will be down and in loose waves for the ceremony & up for the reception. I just had my ears re-pierced in October & won't be able to start wear long earrings until February, so I don't want anything too heavy. What kind of necklace or bracelets should I wear/get? I tend towards simple and delicate jewelry, but also have several statement necklaces that I wear regularly.

What would you do!?

Personally I prefer a fingertip length veil with your dress! I think the one you have on looks gorgeous Smiley smile

I would keep your jewelry simple (but I'm also a simple jewelry girl as well). I think a statement necklace might take away the attention from the gorgeous detailing on your dress. Because by the way, that dress is so beautiful!

I would prefer a cathedral veil with that dress so it's all down to preference and comfort. I also agree the jewelry should stay delicate a simple, maybe a pendant and some delicate medium length earrings. I got something very similar from Berricle.

I honestly think that's the same dress I picked out! What a small world! I think the veil you have on now is stunning. I'm in the same boat with trying to decide on jewerly. Let me know what you pick!

What type of venue do you have? Is your ceremony outside or inside?

I agree with WWLynnie. Your dress is gorgeous. I would take the less is more approach with the jewelry. And yes to the fingertip veil.

Gorgeous dress, definitely compliments your figure! I think that dress deserves a finger tip length veil. Jewelry, I agree with the others. Something delicate and lightly started. You want it to compliment your dress not take away from it. One thing I would suggest is to not wear a statement piece that you've worn before. It's your wedding day! A statement necklace would only enhance the look, but make it a new statement necklace or "borrowed".

I always imagined wearing a long veil, too, but fingertip length ended up looking the best with my dress. I think fingertip will be beautiful with yours, also. Your dress is gorgeous!! I recommend looking on Etsy for veils. There's a lot to choose from and they're at much better prices than you can get in the bridal salons.

Maybe you can do pearls for jewelry?

Thanks so much ladies! It seems like fingertip is the way to go, so definitely taking that advice.

@therightlane: Ceremony is outside, on a terrace over the top of a waterfall. Reception is indoor/outdoor, in the rooms right next to the terrace and partially under the tent over the terrace. (Tons of doors between the rooms & the terrace to give it a very connected feeling.)

Butterfly-- I'm thinking possibly pearls too. FH gave me a necklace & earrings set for my first birthday we were together and then a matching bracelet for our 1st dating anniversary. I could use that set, but haven't tried it on with the dress yet.

And THANK YOU for the compliments! I adore the dress and cannot wait to wear it. It's living at my neighbors condo right now & I have to force myself to not just stop by every day to visit it.

@Heather -- It's a great dress and so much less expensive than all of the Monique Lhuiller, Lazaros, and Hayley Paige dresses I was trying on. I was stunned when that was the one I ended up with, because I normally have expensive taste. I'll be sure to post some good BAM pictures for you to get a sense of it with the complete look.

Sounds like an awesome venue! Can't wait for your BAM. Definitely a finger tip vail then. A cathedral might be annoying with the waterfall and indoor/outdoor reception. Your dress is amazing btw!

The veil you have on in the picture is beautiful! The problem I ran into with super long veil is it added too much to the dress and distracted from it because it is covered in sparkles and lace, and the veil would tangle. And my hair is long so I had to find a veil longer than my hair! Lol. As far as jewelry maybe a silver necklace with a single diamond; simple and elegant and won't overcrowd the dress. And check consignment shops for veils and jewelry and tiaras if you're into that because the ones at the salon are expensivvve!

Hi Briana, your dress is gorgeous! I think a chapel length veil would be beautiful with your dress! I had a chapel length veil for my wedding with lace trim and it was so pretty! It did tend to get stuck on things and so my sweet husband spent a lot of time carrying it around while we moved locations to take pictures. My hair stylist also suggested sewing in extra combs to really secure it in my hair in case it did get caught or stepped on and it worked wonderfully. I just got plain clear combs off Amazon and sewed them in.

Definitely love the finger tip length! I like shorter veils because there's less chance of them getting in the way or being ruined, but if you like the way a longer one looks then go for it!

Personally I'd stay away from bracelets, they tend to just get annoying throughout the day. A nice delicate pair of dangle earrings would be really pretty with your dress, and they make your neck look thinner and longer (but not in a creepy giraffe way). With the shape of your dresses neckline I'd go with something really simple that will come down to a v (whether the chain is shaped that way or you have a pendant) that will hit just 2-3 inches above the deepest part of your neckline. I think it would really show off the detailing without distracting from it!

Fingertip veil would look best. As far as jewelry, I prefer simple and delicate jewelry. Your dress is the statement piece already so I think statement jewelry would be too much.

Since I have an different opinion on the jewelry, I just wanted to say I LOVE statement jewelry. It's a part of me and FH loves that, so I'll be wearing statement jewelry that brings out the details in my dress for continuity.

I say wear at least once statement piece! The rest can be small and delicate.
