NC Wildfires- Wedding Worries

Wow, that's awful. I hadn't thought about how the fires could affect someone's wedding. For peace of mind, I would recommend getting cancellation insurance. Most likely something like this won't be happening next year at your wedding, but if you had to make major changes because of a fire or something like that, the cancellation insurance would protect you.

Hopefully they get it under control. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved.

Oh wow! That's terrible. I'm concerned too, so I might send my planner an update. What town is that in?

@A&W I'll have to check my wedding contract about situations like this and see if insurance might be necessary.

@therightLane This is Lake Lure, NC just down the road from Chimney Rock. There are so many fires in the area and surrounding counties. Sadly, they are believed to be the result of arson. =(

@Deena I love Lake Lure. Hopefully they'll be able to get them under control. We're getting married in Cashiers, so not too far away.

Is this the one close to rambling balding resort... it has been very bad lately this year I hope they stop soon .... the smoke from it is terrible ....praying a end to it soon ...

@Beauty This is located at a different point on the lake, but the entire area is affected. Yesterday, they were evacuating 5 counties in the area. This morning, they are now up to 6 counties.

How terrible! I sincerely hope everything works out! We're in a burn ban where I live and people are ignoring it. An idiot last night posted a picture of a bon fire they're having saying something along the lines of 'so what if there's a burn ban.' What's happening in NC is the reason why they tell you not to burn. I feel like no one learned anything from Smokey the Bear in middle school.

It's crazy smh I have to drive through the smoke everyday I work in Marion but stay in Rutherford county I know it's bad because you can smell the smoke from the fires in my county I just hope they get them under control and I'm praying for the areas as a whole ....

We honeymooned in Highlands, NC and I was wondering how close the fires are to it.

Yikes. We had a major fire (several actually) earlier this year in my area. Stay safe!

FH and I have been watching our venue's FB page and the restaurant where the rehearsal dinner will be's FB page for updates. We are thinking our trip is cancelled at this point.

I wish it would rain to help out. Between the fires in NC and TN, this will be so devastating.

Whew I'm glad your wedding is a year away, at first I thought it was next week and I was gonna say girl you need a new last minute venue. The smoke in TN has been unbelievable we've never experienced that in my life there

@FutureMrsB FMIL was in Chattanooga yesterday and said she see/smell the smoke.

I would have definitely been freaking out if the wedding was next week. I know there is one scheduled at the venue next week so I feel for that family.
