My ceremony location...opinions and advice please!

Amber, on June 25, 2015 at 12:18 PM Posted in Planning 0 17

Here are some pictures of the location of my ceremony. My venue has many places onsite but I wanted the one closest to the water. He said he can have it at the arch seen in the picture or we can shift it to the left in front of the water (2nd picture). I am pretty sure (though I didnt ask) that they probably wont move the arch and I would have to get one myself if I choose to have the water in the background. Do you think the current place looks fine? Another thing is that the walk from the venue to the ceremony site is quite long. Pic in comments. I bought 20 shepherd hooks to line the aisle (before I saw this location because of the snow when I booked it) Do you think I could do something with just the 20 or should I buy more. I do not know the exact measurement from the venue to the ceremony. Sorry I am all over the place!

Picture of how far the walk will be though I wasnt standing near the arch I was probably another 20 ft from the arch so its pretty far. Second is just another picture.

They're both gorgeous. I'm a big partial to the water, but it really depends on how much the arch would be. Do you have to have an arch? Can you DIY something? I think 20 hooks is plenty. One on each side of the aisle for each row and you can hang flowers or something from them.

I think by the water would be really nice, and it looks like the arch wouldn't be able to be moved. maybe your shepard hooks and some potted plants at the end?

I prefer the water. And I wouldn't even move the arch. Just stand in front of the water and have the ceremony. I think it's much more natural and gorgeous.

I think 20 should be more than enough - you can space them out down the aisle and it would look really pretty - or just do 10 on each side reaaaaaaaaaalllly far apart... as for the different locations - can you see the first place from the second? i think the second is really pretty - like if you did it in that little corner it would be gorgeous and you could do an arch (or a table or white wooden cross or a lot of other options) and it would look beautiful.

I wanted to use the hooks to create an aisle (not near chairs) where I will be walking.

I do not have an arch and I guess I would see if they would let us bring our own. I think the arch gives it a better feel.

I prefer the arch. It gives a nice focal point, and you're still next to the water.

There is more open space to the left of the water pic. so we can have it so the other area is not showing in pictures.

Oh. The arch is next to the water? Just do it at the arch and have that pretty water on the side!

Yes the arch is close to the water. You can kind of see it from the last picture posted.

I'm partial to the water, but it would depend on what time your ceremony is at. If it's later in the evening you might have a problem with bugs if it's too close to the water.

@RebeccaHope yeah its a 5pm start time. And I hate bugs Smiley sad I didnt even think of that. I think either spot will have bugs seeing its close to the woods. Hopefully it isnt too bad.

@Surfergirl86 I def. want to have flowers in some type of hanging pot but I am not sure what kind or planter or what not. I was thinking of more big plastic ornaments where I can tie ribbon from it and stick the flowers in but I am not sure how that will look. I think it might be too small for such a large area??

ETA @Surfergirl86 I guess we could always take pictures near the water. The grounds are so nice so I can take pictures near the water later if I choose to stick to the current location.
