Mother of the Bride Dress !!!! YUK

She probably thinks its beautiful. It doesn't sound too bad to me. She just wants to look nice for your wedding. It may not be your style but it is hers. Don't stress about it too much.

OMG leonie!!! Your mom sounds just like my mom. My mother LOVES the color red. If she could, she would dress from head to toe in red on my wedding day. I told her I would like to help her pick a dress that's a little more...um, not red. She agreed so we'll be going this weekend to find her a mother-of-the-bride dress. BUT...then last night I was horrified to find out that she wants to wear this hat...with a dress she doesn't have yet! The convo went something like this...

mother: "Hi honey, I found a hat to wear to the wedding."

me: "Oh, um, but you don't have a dress yet."

mother: "That's ok, it will go with any color."

me: "It looks large. You might have to sit on the side. People won't be able to see over it"

mother: "I really like it"

me: "But you'll only be outside for like 30 to 40 minutes."

mother: "It's the last one."

me: "ok"

mother: "So I can buy it? I love hats"

me: "ok"

I couldn't sleep last night thinking about this hat! lol!

Oh bat girl thank god i'm not the only one. My mum is harmless but i cringe thinking of her in the photo's and she will think she looks lovely. A hat hey, good luck, at least she might take it off when she gets inside

And I thought it was bad when my mom was going to wear white to my daughter's wedding.

Oh wow. can you possibly turn your mom to where the flower isn't as noticeable? i don't know where it is on the dress, but you might could have your photographer position her so it doesn't stick out. as for you bat girl...the hat is hideous and i would be having nightmares if i were you. try to steer her towards the most simple dress you can find to downplay the hat now.

I know what you mean.My grandmother has terrible style too. She's close to 70, but she wants to dress like a 20 year old. For my wedding my mom took her shopping. She chose clothes so scantly clad that the sales associates close to my grandma's age helping her told her that her clothes weren't age appropriate. The sales associate ended up bringing her more age appropriate clothes, and she got a beautiful dress and it's not like it was a matronly dress just not scanky. lol My mom was horrified shopping with her and seeing all the bright red dresses for 20 year olds that her 70 year old mother was trying to wear. My grandmother told me that she was mad about the dress she got and felt that people were making her dress like an old woman. But, if she'd shown up in whatever made a sales associate put her in her place, it would have been embarrassing and the talk of the wedding.

Well, just like we want to feel beautiful in what we wear, they want to feel beautiful in what they wear.

wedding photos are supposed to have something in them that you look back on and chuckle.

if it really bugs you in the photos that why god created Photoshop. wouldn't be that hard to get it out of the pictures.

I'm with Aronna-- it'll make you laugh in years to come. You could also suggest to whoever is standing next to her that he/she stand a little in front of the flower.

My Mom called me raving about a summer dress she wanted to by from AVON for my wedding ... oh boy. I looked at it in the catalog and it looked like something the little mermaid fashioned on the beach. No go. Oh jeez, I love my Mom lol.

Mums are crazy hey, Avon ?? Seriously !! I think we need a post of Mother of the bride, I will have to get a pic for you all. I would love to photo shop it out but i know she would get offended.

Her flower is on the right hand side where a corsage would have gone so not sure if i can block it in any way but i'll try.
