Well, August 2nd in western Puerto Rico was nothing like we expected/planned for. An unusually early tropical storm, Bertha, decided to stop by and make things a bit difficult. But the love of family and friends was stronger and we married regardless of the rain and up to 50 mph winds (no tent could have survived, thank goodness for a concrete gazebo in the park).
Many things went wrong that day (no makeup until 3:30 and ceremony was at 4, closed roads, dad's car broke down on the way to ceremony ... just some examples). We were decorating at the reception place until 2 am the night before, decoration and set up for the ceremony had to be changed at the last minute. I was close to two hours late for the ceremony. By the time I made it to the aisle all I want to do was cry. All the guests were sooo nice and did there best to make me smile. After controlling my tears, I made it down the aisle. A look at the eyes of my now husband was all I needed to smile.
