Just when I thought we were in the clear...

Amanda, on August 8, 2015 at 10:32 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

I thought the RSVP process was going too smoothly! Not a single guest added anyone. No drama or trauma! Then, my cousin texts me requesting that we allow them to bring their 4 children to our wedding or else they cannot attend. I replied by saying that we cannot accommodate their children but, if they find a sitter, it would be great to see them! If not, no worries! I won't be upset if they can't make it. Totally understand (although I KNOW for a fact that my cousins inlaws take their kids all the time). My cousin then calls up anyone and everyone that will listen to bitch about how awful I am. And, of course, both have fb statuses up about how they're all about their kids and anyone who doesn't welcome their kids aren't welcomed in their lives. Eye roll! No skin off my balls! I was just saying how stress free our rsvp's were! Should have kept my mouth shut! I jinxed it! lol

Yikes! Sorry this is happening to you! Some people just don't understand, especially if you sent invites early on addressing the situation so they could find a babysitter. Sigh.

Well, don't you understand that their children are not just any ol' children? These are special little snowflakes! And the whole world should revolve around them. Shame on you for not knowing that. Hahaha ;-) (eta: stupid autocorrect)

Ugh. If it makes you feel better, anyone who posts shit like that on FB always gets an eye roll from me. It honestly reflects more on them than it does on you.

Thanks. I'm not upset at all about it! Thanks to ww, I was expecting some drama! And have been fortunate because all my family have been awesome about telling my cousin weddings are expensive, explaining that I'm not inviting many kids, and so on. So it could be worse. Plus, at this point, every decline is just one less mouth to feed lol everyone I truly want there have accepted! I just find it so amusing how some can get so upset and down right nasty when it comes to their kids not being invited. As if having an evening away from your kids is torture or something! lol

Wow! People can be so inconsiderate. Good response you gave her though. High five for standing your ground.

Well that just proved you don't need them in your life... or at your wedding.

My response is all thanks to ww!!! This site is my life line with wedding planning! So thanks to all of you ladies! I was fully prepared for this! And I agree. This particular cousin isn't worth bending rules for. I'm not a fan of his kids (they're brats). If he never talks to me again, I wouldn't care less.

They probably weren't expecting that response when they gave you an ultimatum.
