Is it rude to...?*bridal shower*

Maggie, on July 11, 2018 at 5:28 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9
My FH was raised by his mom, aunt , and grandma. They are all very special to him. I love them, but they can be pushy. They assumed they would throw me a bridal shower for their side of the family only.
Most of my family is men, and if I had split showers I would have about 6 people at my sides. Plus two showers seems like a lot of stress......

So I kinda shut down this separate shower idea by asking (telling lol) them if we could do it all on one day. Do you think that was rude? Or am I overthinking?

No I don't think you were rude, especially if your side is so small. It's very stressful to have more than one shower.

I dont think its rude at all. The idea of separate showers is odd to me. I've never seen that done. And if your side is only 6 people it's not like it would be breaking the bank to add them to their shower plans.

Right? I kinda thought it was rude that they would even try to exclude my family......... plus my MOH’s (sister and best friend) wanted to plan my shower anyway.

Nope not rude at all! We are having two showers just because all of my family/friends are in Texas and all of my FH’s are in California so we are having one in each state. But if y’all are all in the same place I would definitely combine it.

That's not rude at all, if they throw you one anyway, you can't do a lot about it, but suggesting all in one is totally appropriate!

It’s so interesting how things can differ so much depending on the area you live in. Showers are a lot of stress, I just can’t imagine doing more than one lol

Its not rude- two showers is pretty standard. I feel like if you're calling them rude there's some deeper issues going on. Try to stay out of any intricate planning of your shower moving forward.

I don't think it's rude. It's unnecessary to have 2 showers! Since you're only adding 6 people, could you contribute for extra cost or could your family's side contribute?
