Ideas for a traveling honeymoon??

lulu1180, on October 21, 2015 at 9:20 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 11

I finally got FH to talk about honeymoon ideas and it sound like we are leaning towards doing more of a traveling honeymoon. We would travel west via car and he would like to go in the Montana/Wyoming area, but we would stop in a couple places along the way and then probably stop in different places on the way home. We are currently debating on exactly how long to take.

Has anyone ever done something like this and have any general suggestions?

Does anyone have any recommendations on places to visit? (west of Ohio)

    That sounds super fun!

My brother did something like that, and they had a ton of fun. The one thing he did say though was he wished he would have not scheduled it so aggressively (hopping from place to place every day) because after the hectic pace of the wedding, relaxation and doing nothing was really needed. Just a thought while you're planning Smiley smile

Thanks for the input! I would want to stay a couple days in some of the places but it all depends on our final decisions :-)

Yes, kinda. We got married in Wisconsin, spent the night there at a couples resort, then drove to chicago and spent the night there. Then we flew to Anchorage and spent a night there. We rented a car in Anchorage and did our supply shopping and mailing. We also drove to Girdwood to a 4 star restaurant in the mountains. We got 4 hours of sleep and then flew back to our hub and our village. We were exhausted. But we had to get home somehow and we had fun along the way.

I worked at Yellowstone Park forever ago (2002) and travelled from there west through to Vancouver. If you need any inspiration feel free to let me know!

I live in western Montana. GO TO GLACIER NATIONAL PARK. It's seriously the called the "crown jewel" of the continent for a reason!

I would HIGHLY recommend going to the Arizona/Utah area. You've got:

    1) Grand Canyon

    2) Bryce National Park

    3) Zion National Park

    4) Arches National Park

    5) Antelope Canyon

    6) Moab

    7) Flagstaff (Mountain town)

    8) Sedona (Beautiful red rocks)

    9) Rocky Mountains (in Utah)

    10) Monument Valley

I'm probably missing some, but omg it is just gorgeous in northern Arizona/Southern and Western Utah. Not sure if you want to go that far south but it would be well worth it!

I'm adding pics because it's just so gorgeous! But this doesn't even scratch the surface!!

Yeah, if you have any questions, I lived in Northern Arizona for 4 years, it is a stunning place to go! The summers are beautiful there too! There are definitely places there you can't find anywhere else in the world. It's just so pretty! Okay, guess I need to work on planning a trip back there soon, now I really want to go!

@lulu date twin!! We were first thinking of doing a road trip but now we are planning on something else. We live in Colorado and LOVE it here! We travel quite a bit to Wyoming as we are big climbers and hikers. In Wyoming there is Devils Tower, which if you're not climbers is pretty fascinating to see but not much else around. More of a stop on the way to somewhere else. Keep going west from there you have Ten Sleep Canyon. Again gorgeous that time of year! Then keep going west and you'll hit Grand Tetons and Yellowstone. I personally love the Tetons more than Yellowstone, but you should visit both. The Lander area of Wyoming is also pretty, lots of hiking, biking, climbing there. Montana- you'd have to hit up Glacier. Never been myself but pictures look amazing!

If you can make it to Colorado, Rocky Mountain National Park would be amazing, if you hike, go do Hanging Lake in Glenwood Springs, and you must go see the Maroon Bells out near Aspen! Ah my favorite mountain! Hope you enjoy!
