I think I found my engagement picture dress but ....

Michele , on March 8, 2016 at 3:34 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 35

I'm not sure about the fit , I wanted the skirt to be puffy. Should I add a tulle petticoat or leave it be ?

A little tulle and maybe a colored belt I think. Cute dress though. I really like it.

I think it looks fine, but if you wanted fuller, a petticoat wouldn't be out of line. I also second the colored belt idea. Some accessory. Obviously not a necklace, but you get the idea.

Cute dress, I agree with other posters about the colored belt and tulle petticoat. Also, don't forget to iron your dress!

I like the dress's silhouette as it is, but I agree that it's not really puffy.

There's a bride here who used a petticoat under her wedding dress. It might give you an idea of how it would change the flow of the dress:

I would add color somewhere; I like the belt idea.

I just have to know though: Are these engagement pictures going to be taken after you two elope this weekend?

This is the look I was going for , more Aubrey Hepburn . I was thinking a crystal brooch , but I like the belt idea . I could find some extra wide ribbon to play as belt/sash.

    @frugal - Good catch!

Doesn't that make this the wedding dress then? Or were you planning on changing?

If you do get a petticoat, make sure to bring your dress to the store to try it on. You want to make sure that it makes it puffier without sticking out or changing the shape of the dress.

Or a colored petticoat? That would be fun without changing the overall look too much.

@ VC : I just bought this dress at Macy's . If I can find one in time I will see how it looks or just go without.

Posts that explain how you're going to ignore us are contradictory.

Also, I'm really curious. Does this mean you decided against eloping this weekend?

I was actually just curious as to whether that makes this your wedding dress. That would totally change my accessory recommendations.

@MountainBride - She's the OP of the "wedding now reception later" thread. Her FH suggested that they get married during their engagement pics this weekend and do the celebration in June as planned. People thought it was weird and she didn't take it too well.

    ETA: punctuation failed me

@MountainBride that would be cute Smiley smile the BAM that I posted in my first comment (by YasminaDLV) shows her dress with a blue petticoat showing.

@Michele: I meant that when you go to buy your petticoat, wear the dress (or bring it with you) so that you try the petticoat on under the dress, and can see if it fits the way you wanted.

Also - You might find something at American Apparel, I know they almost always carry petticoats. They're not cheap, though Smiley sad
