Whatever liquids/toiletries in your carry on has to be three ounces (3.4 oz) or less. But you can put whatever products in checked baggage. I always manage to get tripped up, though. Last time I flew I had to ditch the yogurt I was going to eat on the plane. I thought food was fine, but apparently not if it's "spreadable."

I think we're doing everything checked. Carry on isn't really convenient for a weeks vacation it seems. So thank you!!!

If you’re checking a bag everything should be fine! With the exception of explosives and stuff like that haha. Anything you carry on though needs to be 3oz or less and fit in a quart size ziploc.

Adding to what others have said. If you are wanting to save some money, I suggest checking one bag with all the liquids and bathroom products that don't meet carry on requirements and putting clothes in that checked bag and a smaller bag that fits under carry on bag requirements. Carry on size requirements vary from airline to airline, but around a 20 inch bag is usually carry on safe.

FH and I are going for a week long honeymoon somewhere warm (its a surprise to me!) and we are going to check one bag because it is $30 for one bag each way with Delta. We have another bag that fits the carry on requirements that we will pack the rest of our stuff in.

I also highly recommend getting a luggage scale or borrowing one from someone you know. My parents have one and it is so great! We are going to borrow theirs. They are hand-held scales that you clip around the bag handle and lift the bag off the ground to weigh it. Most airlines have different fees for bags up to 50 pounds and over 50 pounds. It is easy to go over 50 pounds and not be able to tell until you get to the airport and have to pay an overweight baggage fee.

Hi Audrey! Super curly girl here. I feel your pain! (Those products ain’t cheap and RARELY come in travel size 😡) As PP said, there aren’t really any size restrictions if you’re checking bags. However, I always encourage at least a small backpack or Victoria’s Secret-tote type of carryon. If checked baggage gets lost/damaged you don’t want to be SOL when you reach your destination. (My brother once had his bags arrive in FL without him while he was stuck in Cali for 2 days. Ended up buying clothes, etc. since he’d put ALL his stuff in the checked bag) Something as simple as a toothbrush, you don’t want to be without.

Make sure to check your Airline’s allowances re: baggage fees. Some are quite generous, other nickle and dime you into the poorhouse 😒

Also, be sure to leave extra room in your checked bag for souvenirs, etc. So many cram their bags for vacay and forget about how they’ll get the extra stuff home!

These may be obvious, but getting through security has changed a lot in the past 15 years. Unless you have TSA-precheck, be prepared to remove your shoes as you go through security. (So, if the idea of standing on a filthy floor barefoot grosses you out, be sure to wear or carry socks in your carry on bag.) You'll also need to remove all tech from your carry on -- so if you're taking a laptop or tablet, be prepared for that. Wear minimal jewelry to the airport, put whatever you want to take in your carry-on bag. It's a little unpredictable what they'll ask you to remove. It seems they make husband practically strip, but let me through with watch, rings, etc. Carry an empty water bottle with you, most airports have filling stations once you get through security, so it will save you from having to buy a $5 bottle of water. Dry snacks are generally okay, but as mentioned above security has cracked down on soft consistency foods. Wear comfortable clothes and layers, since you'll never know if your plane with be freezing or sweltering (regardless of the outside temps). We also carry enough snacks -- especially proteins like nuts -- with us in case we run into delays. I once sat next to a young couple returning from a honeymoon cruise out of FL on their way home to Oregon. I joined the flight in Chicago. Their flight left a smaller airport in FL so early that none of the airport restaurants/concessions were open yet. Their flight had a couple of stops, but they weren't changing planes and the flight crew hadn't let them off the plane all day. Weather caused multiple delays. By the time I joined them mid-afternoon, they'd been on that same Southwest plane for about 6-7 hours, with only peanuts and pretzels to eat all day, and they hadn't had an actual meal since the night before. I offered them whatever they wanted from the ample snacks I was carrying and they were so thankful! Now, I always prepare for the worst! Good luck! Hopefully, the more prepared you are, the more likely you'll have an easy, stress-free trip!

I live in Florida AND I have curly hair, haha. If you're bringing a checked bag just put everything in that. Unscrew all of the caps and place a piece of saran-wrap over the top and then screw the cap back on. This will keep everything from bursting open. I would narrow down your must have items for your hair, try to streamline your process for the honeymoon. It's still a bit humid here so I'd suggest a good frizz-fighter. It is cooling off especially up in the north part but it's definitely not "fall" yet. Sunscreen is a must if you're going to be out and about all day outside. If you're in and out of a car and buildings, I'd say a good moisturizer with sunscreen in it is fine.

Try to pack travel size bottles if you can. Check out the travel section at Ulta, they have a lot of "sample" sizes and travel sizes. You could even just as them for a sample of whatever product you want. If they can't help you, Target and Amazon sell the kits where you DIY your own travel size bottles. I have a set of these for the hard to come by products

If you're only bringing a carry-on, then you have to adhere to all of the rules with liquids and gels (sunscreen is included in this).

As long as it’s in a checked bag you should be fine to pack sunscreen and hair products. Just put them in a ziploc bag so that on the off chance that the containers open or break while being jostled around on the plane, at least it won’t ruin the other stuff in your suitcase!
