How many venues did you look at?

ready2marry, on April 5, 2015 at 11:18 PM Posted in Planning 0 54

I dont if this is a love at first sight syndrome but I absolutely looooved the first venue place we looked at and want to secure the date already. The event manager was cool didnt pressure us I know I need to do my due diligence in looking and researching other places. Did you have the same experience too? They can hold my date but only for 72 hours, no point in me doing that if I know I'm still shopping and taking my time. Any advice on that or am I just worrying about small stuff?

One - We went to the venue of my dreams first and they had THE date available and I was sold!

FH and I loved the first venue we went to, but I felt like you did and wanted to do my due diligence. We saw 7 total. We kept comparing it back to the first venue. Sometimes you just know.

One-we were both sold before we even toured it. When you know you just know.

1 but then again I did hours of research sitting in the hospital with my father. I picked the ones I liked out and he liked it the best, toured it and done. It was amazing, and we got lots of compliments on it.

If you loved the place, I'd say go ahead and book it! I only looked at one venue and even though I considered others, I kept going back to that first place and saying "Yup, I see us getting married here..."

We booked the first one. It is all inclusive and everything we were looking for. It has an awesome staircase for photos. I'm so excited. It was a bit over our original budget but well worth it.

We looked at 5 places on the beach. We loved the first place but the price was a little more than we had anticipated...FH made me shop around a little to see we what else was out there. 3 months later we went back to the first venue haggled the prices and pushed the wedding up a year! The catering manager worked with our budget since he wanted to close the books.

Two. We were going to get married outside in the garden at our reception venue but our photographer suggested to look for indoor venues due to it being in June and hot and weather could be unpredictable. Our florist recommended the venue we are going to go with. I love it!

We booked the first and only venue we visited. However, I had spent a lot (a LOT!) of time researching venues, and spoke with several on the phone to get information about pricing, packages, etc. So by the time we scheduled a visit, we were already pretty sure about the one we wanted.

Too many to count, but I know it was more than 10.

We looked at 3 before getting engaged, and knew as soon as we started our tour that #3 was the place. It's really hard to find the perfect venue, that really resonates with you; I've never heard of anyone having a bunch of amazing venues to choose from (after they've visited and heard all the details)...usually finding a suitable venue is incredibly difficult, so you should trust your gut! If you get THAT feeling when walking around (and it sounds like you do), then go for it!

ETA: I didn't want to book our venue until we were officially engaged, so I was in this weird situation of emailing our venue daily to make sure they hadn't booked up for our preferred month while I was waiting for the proposal. Probably the only kind of crazy thing I've done during the wedding process so far.

I'm doing a lot of research online prior to going to see any venue. I have it narrowed down to 2 places

I looked at 3 venues, just stop when you fall in love!! No need to look at a lot if you have already done a lot of research online.

Looked at a ton online, but only visited 2. We sort of decided on the 2nd one we chose, which was my first choice before we even got engaged. That said, it's a bring everything in on your own and we have to use their exclusive rental company for EVERTHING. Even though our caterer is providing place settings, linens and buffet tables for FREE, we literally have to say No thank you, we have to pay for those things with this other company. It's a pain in the a**. I get it, but it's a pain in the a**. Although I absolutely love the setting of my venue, I wish I took all of that into consideration before choosing them. Just make sure aside from aesthetics alone it's the right place for you. ETA: In other words, take the 72 hours to weigh ALL of your options.

A lot of my couples tell me they only looked at one, after narrowing it down. I can think of many of my favorite venues that are just the top in their class; if you're thinking of a barn, I can tell you the one you'll love. A ballroom? Maybe two. Villa feel? One. Loft space? Same. They are simply the top, ideal venue of their type, and people tend to fall in love then they walk in the door.

If the price is right, the staff is nice to you and the date is good to go? Do it.
