How did you make it to the wedding date?

I just posted a rant about RSVPs... and now FH tells me he doesn't have his birth certificate. We're getting married in 18 days and when I mentioned going to get our license on Thursday (his day off), he says "oh, I should probably get my birth certificate from my mom, then." OMG. His mom lives three hours away from us. I said "what if she doesn't have it? What county were you born in so I can contact them?" And he doesn't even know what county he was born in! And the hospital no longer exists!

I'm so ready to be done with all this wedding stuff. I wanted to elope from the beginning - maybe have a small, casual, informal ceremony with just parents and siblings. I didn't want all this stress - and now we're way over our budget and racking up tons of debt and I just want to run away and not do any of this anymore!

Oh,yes. Dear mommy has it! LOL My FMIL has EVERYTHING (including car titles) of FH! Good luck with that. Anyway, in OH you can get a replacement at the local health dept. in a matter of min. I just went through this with FH not finding his, however 4 days to go and we STILL DO NOT have our marriage license!! He had to work late last night so it's today!!! (I hope) or Wed. when it's going to storm bad and they won't let them work on the well pad's.

OMG .. I so would go get ours now if I could (only valid here for 30 days). I made the mistake of watching the season finale of Castle where she finds out she's married. Even though I've seen his divorce papers I can't help imagining the worst case. And I just know he'll forget to bring them and we'll have to wait. I'm guilty too of my mom having everything. Guess I should go find my Birth Certificate, I'm pretty sure the photo copy she made for my scrap book isn't going to cut it, and since my dad was active duty in a different state replacing would be a night mare.

Sounds like you're going through wedding overload!! I felt that up to the week before the wedding, then I said f*ck everything, I'm enjoying myself. I'm sure she has it and 3 hours isn't too far away. Is it a pain in the butt? Yes, but he's a man and might not always think all the small details through. Stay on top of him to ask his mom and figure out when he can go and get it. Take a deep breath, and remember, all that matters int he end is that you're married to FH. Try to enjoy these last days of being engaged. Good luck!

Take a breather - I can see why you're frustrated. Your day is almost here and it will be gorgeous and then you can just relax and be married! Hopefully his mom has it and it won't be an issue - you should take over all the paperwork and organizing from now on...that way in the future you know where everything is. Good luck!

Not every clerk requires a birth certificate. Call your office and ask what they need.

I married a couple a few years ago; the bride was born in a very tiny foreign country that didn't even issue birth certificates. She had a drivers' license and a passport; that was enough.

But don't put it off. Call that clerk TODAY.
