How did you choose your Wedding colors/theme? And what were they?

Jamie, on February 9, 2014 at 3:46 AM Posted in Planning 0 56

I'm having such a hard time picking a theme, I want it to be romantic but fun. How did you come up with your wedding ideas?

No theme (not a kids party) but color wise WW helped. I was really stuck, described the venue, what we wanted etc and walked away with a color scheme (different neutrals)

FH came up with the theme. I didn't like it at first but I told my friend and she showed me pictures and I liked it. It's a vampire theme ( more gothic type stuff I guess is how to describe it). Colors are blue (my favorite color) and purple(his favorite color).

I live in Hawaii but most of our family is on the mainland so we wanted to create the feel of a destination wedding in Hawaii without it actually being in Hawaii (our wedding is in San Diego). Therefore it was very easy to choose the tropical feel. We're both big romantics so we wanted sort of tropical romantic if that makes sense. Then for colors I knew I wanted red and then I realized the flower I wear a lot in my hair is yellow and red so I thought that would go with our colorful and tropical feel. Then I realized when I googled tropical weddings turquoise came up a lot so I chose that too. I would look around for things for inspiration. Maybe a favorite scarf with nice colors or you can think of what colors/themes really represent you and your fiance. I think if you want fun you could maybe have some bold colors.

My favorite colors are navy and yellow, so they were the ones I chose. We have a beach venue for our wedding, so our loosely nautical theme came naturally from a combination of the venue with our color scheme.

We were thinking of a royal blue and a Dusty rose... but the only color we've 100% chosen is the royal blue... soo many choices!

We're getting married on a winter night, so I went with a darker palette of black, grey, and cranberry mixed with a little silver. It made my life a lot easier to have my BM in black dresses (different ages, tastes, body types) and I loved the idea of flowers in burgundy, cranberry, plum and a hint of fuchsia.

We don't have a theme but we picked our colors based on our favorite colors which just happen to look great together for a spring wedding. My favorite color is blue and his is grass green. In the end we are at Kelly Green and Cobalt/Royal Blue.

We don't have a theme but our color scheme is purple/white/silver. Purple is my favorite color and blue is his but we went with mine because 2 of his cousins just recently got married and both of them used blue and we didn't want to follow.

We just search google wedding colors until we found something we liked. I don't really have a theme. My colors are shades of gray/silver/bling with pops of orange.

Ours are royal blue and golden yellow... I like them because they are fun, bright, and summer-y, FH likes them because they are old school brewer (baseball) colors and he is a huge sports / baseball fan. It's a win win!!

Asked fh his favorite color (blue) so I chose ice blue which I thought would combine nicely with ivory, the color I wanted. No theme Smiley smile

I knew I wanted sapphire blue as one colour (sapphire is my birth stone and also I knew all my bridesmaids would look stunning in that colour and they were all enthusiastic about wearing it, too), so I searched "wedding theme colours sapphire" on Pinterest and found a bunch of colour boards. I also went to design-seeds.com, which is an AMAZING site for colour palettes. You can pick a colour you love and it gives you colour palettes inspired by beautiful photos. In the end, we ended up with sapphire blue, slate gray, and ivory with a hint of lilac. Good luck!

When pinning stuff on pinterest, I was drawn to certain colors and palettes. Even though I don't wear a lot of peach or gold stuff, I liked the combination. I threw in teal too because it's a lovely color that goes with both. Browse inspiration online and see what you're drawn to.

I wanted something that was classic and timeless. I always liked blue and chose navy since I can't find a shade like FH's shirt in picture to left. (matches my car, LOL). I will have light pink and white flowers and silver accents or and lots of lace. I am almost 40 so many of the colors are just to bright and loud for me.

Our wedding will be elegant, romantic, vintage, and whimsical. We are adding a "Love in Art and Art in Love" theme, showcasing different forms of the arts, such as literature and painting, and our venue is a historical home museum. The colors will be grey and blush with hints of gold.

I had 4 different ideas for themes, until we settled on peacock. I love the royal blue color with hints of purple and teal.

My FH is a HUGE Packer fan so our colors are green and gold. We don't really have a theme but the vibe is going to be: fun, chic and modern.
