How did you ask your bridesmaids?

BayouBride, on February 14, 2016 at 9:36 PM Posted in Planning 0 36

So I'm trying to think of a fun way to ask my girls to be bridesmaids! I've looked on Pinterest, but I would like to hear some real people responses! Did yall do anything fun (notes, personalized cups, frames, etc)?...or did yall just straight up ask them and call it a day? Lol

I just called them, I'm doing the same as NowASeptMrs and having shirts for them to wear the day we are getting ready.

ETA probably getting flasks with their names for them as well for them to keep in their pockets.

I plan on opening my mouth and asking them - but I'm waiting to do it in person next week.

My sister always knew she'd be my MoH. I asked the local ones in person when I saw them and asked the out of towners over the phone. My sister was a little surprised that I didn't do a special gift or cutesy ask, but admitted that it may be more of an east coast thing (she lives in Boston, I'm in Cali)

I got my MOH a bracelet that said "Maid of Honor" with a hand written note asking her. Nothing over the top but still memorable.

I was going to do something cute but then realized that there would be plenty of opportunities later on closer to the wedding. I ended up giving them each a dress hanger with their name. Paid 5$ for each. Personally I think those boxes filled with stuff are too much. Cute. But too much lol

I bought them some cute cards off of Etsy and bought them each a MAC lipstick based on their individual taste.

@emilyg, I'll probably end up just opening my mouth and asking mine too. But I figured since I'm asking them to purchase I dress I pick out, in the color I want, to take time out of their schedules to plan a 5 hour trip to attend my wedding, and to take off work the day before so they can attend the rehearsal, it may be a nice gesture to give them a present too...in addition to their bridesmaids presents the day of.

@celia Milton, so you think I'm jumping the gun a little bit? I'm just getting to excited/anxious I guess lol

@Tauley - fair enough, and I think it's sweet too. Mine will be my sisters and future sister-in-law, so they'll be doing most of those things anyways. Plus, I was MOH and more for my sister 2 years ago. She knows it's coming....she just doesn't know how much wrangling I did for her behind the scenes that's on her this time! Muahaha.....ahem.

@emilyg, haha now it's your turn! How exciting!!

I live far away from all of mine, so I just don't get to see them often. I thought mailing them a note and a personalized gift would be a nice gesture. Or flying in to surprise them one weekend and giving them little gifts would be nice. Just something with their name, their title, wedding date, etc that they can keep and look back and remember everything by!

I put a ring pop in a box with a note "I can't say I do without you, will you be my bridesmaid". Nothing too fancy.

My girls loved them! Plus it was an inexpensive way of asking them.
