Honeymoon on a budget

Amber, on July 19, 2017 at 10:13 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 20

Because we had to change our venue last minute it really took over our budget and now we're not left with a lot for our honeymoon. So any suggestions on affordable places to go? Or where did you go?

Thanks Smiley smile

Cruises! I've found that you can find amazing deals!! Also perhaps a travel agent that can help plan a honeymoon within your budget! Open up your post to allow vendors. I think there's a few honeymoon travel agents on here!

I second cruises. They are affordable and leave from a few different ports so depending on where you are located it is not too expensive to travel

Usually they have inclusive packages! We're looking at a 7/8 day Caribbean cruise! See so many places for a fraction of the price!

Definitely cruises! I just booked our honeymoon with Royal Caribbean and got 50% off for one person. With the money I was saving I was able to get a balcony room. I believe Royal Caribbean may still have the sale going on during the month of July.

Cruises include most of your food on board. You can pay for specialty restaurants, and some cruise lines offer a bar package as a special option (Norwegian I know you can pick either an on board credit, bar package, or several other options to be included in the price) included or what we are doing is purchasing a bar package.

You get food included except for specialty restaurants. Drinks are either pay as you go or you can buy a drink package. It depends on how much you drink

What is your budget OP? I would suggest going to the Caribbean all inclusive. i heard cruises nickle and dime you and the rooms are like prison cells.

We are going to the azores in November for 7 days for $998. I googled this deal to make sure that I am not booking a vacation with a Nigerian prince. Per a lot of reviews/blogs it's legit. Is subsidized by the Portuguese gov to attract tourists in the slower season. Most reviewers said they plan to return. It's a 4 hr flight direct from Boston. Hoping for the best

Cruises are the way to go! you can purchase a drink package depending on what you would like. I highly recommend Royal Caribbean cruises. all meals are all inclusive unless you decide to eat at certain restaurants on the ship, and those only have a small fee and you get whatever you want. Plus, its a good opportunity to see more than one place for your honeymoon!

Have you thought about registering for your honeymoon? That's what we're doing, so it's not coming out of the wedding budget at all.

I disagree with Ella, I wouldn't recommend a honeyfund. all inclusive resorts in the Caribbean can be lovely and inexpensive. I haven't cruised but I'm planning to this September. I can't vouch for the experience but the price is right!

You could also try driving somewhere fairly local for a long weekend.

Please do not asks your guests to fund your honeymoon! If a guest wishes to give you a gift to put towards your honeymoon that is fine. But let that be their offer, not your request.

Honeyfunds, depending on the site take a percentage of what your guests gift you, also you get a check, which would not arrive before your wedding, not to mention it's just bad manners to ask for your honeymoon to be funded.

If you don't have a regular registry, most will gift you money....

Where are you located? Our biggest expenses are going to be the flights and hotel (I could've gone cheaper on the hotel but we chose not to use a chain and to upgrade to their 'romance package'. For a regular vacation I would have used Priceline or Expedia to get a much cheaper hotel)

Any way you can go someplace fun within driving distance? Then you won't have to pay for flights

You would be suprised what fun places are near you. We're in Texas and we're driving up to Broken Bow, OK to stay in an adorable and romantic honeymooners cabin and we're going to spend the week kayaking, fishing, hiking, sightseeing, etc. We're saving a lot of money because we can just drive.

We are going on a cruise! It was actually a surprise gift from our family for us. (No we didn't ask for it or anything! And we did do a little honeymoon since our wedding was a dw). Anyways the cruise was a gift. However at this point we have spent $1500 on flights, hotels prior to the cruise and when we get back for a night, the drink package. That doesn't include the tips yet, any excursions you want to do or anything else. So... this not expensive cruise that was a gift is costing us a lot right now! (When we found out about the gift we had no idea of the extra expenses... otherwise we would have said no!). Cruises are very very cool. But it really depends on your budget and make sure you know all the extras that you will have to pay for prior to doing that!

I totally second the road trip. If you have the time off work, choose a place that you've always wanted to go but never had the time. If I could do one, I'd go to Maine but I don't know where you're located. I'm in Pennsylvania, and that's still an 8 hour drive. We could try Boston or the shore. I'm all for the inexpensive road trip. If you're out west, check out vegas, flights are cheap, and the Grand Canyon or parts of Utah or Montana.

We are having a short honeymoon to Disneyworld. We are going to stay for a few days to help decrease some of the costs.

We are from the Caribbean and it can be cheap or expensive all depends where you choose to go. So all depends on your budget try places within your country you never been too or try cruise which is nice. A 7 day carnival cruise can be a good way. Panama, costa rica, punta cana, mexico can be great locations and cheap and all inclusive in some areas.

    Hope this helps. Congrats
